I want to see you, I want to see you
Only this thought overwhelms me
I want to see you right now
We learned to love each other too late, didn't we?
I walk down the road without you
Walking through the corridors of Ashford academy, the silver moonlight made its way through the frosted glass windows.
Zero, once known as Suzaku, stopped and faced the glowing light. It seemed to radiate a beauty…just like he did. Zero frowned and felt his heart sink; this academy was going to be demolished soon.
No one came here anymore because people were afraid; afraid because the ‘crazy’ deceased emperor had gone here for education and were worried that this place would influence their children.
Which of course was absolute nonsense; well to Zero it was.
The empress Nunally allowed her faithful guardian to take once last look at it; being the caring empress she is she knew that the boy behind the mask was still attached to this place. Because this place…that time…contained memories of…him…painful but beautiful memories.
“Suzaku…”
“Yeah ******…”
“…I’m sorry…”
You always seemed to apologise though you never gave a reason…you’d just look at me with those deep purple eyes which always seemed to contain pain and whisper those heart shredding words.
“I’m sorry…”
Though I may have hated you for killing Euphie…deep down a part of me couldn’t hate you…because I knew that you were still the same friend I had known and…cared for from my childhood.
“Suzaku…kill…m…”
He stopped his thoughts and carried on walking through the corridor away from the moon’s solemn glow.
As he was walking a poster caught his eye; he walked towards it and pulled it off the wall.
“Kururugi Suzaku using his knightmare to create Pizza!”
I laughed quietly to myself remembering the events of that day. From Gino deciding to make the pizza instead of me to Arthur being chased by the knightmare. I remember all of us; Milly, Shirley, him and I running either for the same reason or different I do not know…but I remember…he wasn’t the most athletic person.
Zero laughed again but this time in sadness at the memory.
“You…kept a lot of secrets to yourself…”
“*******…what’s wrong? You seem all beat out…”
“Suzaku…nothing; just been studying too late…don’t worry…”
Liar…
He looked to the opposite side of the hallway and looked through the window. It was their classroom; the classroom where they would always have lessons together. He walked in slowly and walked up the stairs to his seat.
He let his hands slowly trace the lines of the wood; and smiled sadly.
He would always sleep there; all the time. He would always look out the window; all the time. His far reaching eyes just gazing out to the outside world. It always seemed to have me under a spell; how beautiful he looked; how the light seemed to make his white skin glow.
“Le…”
He stopped and hesitantly took his hand away from the desk; feeling a thousand tons of sadness fall onto him preventing him for walking away.
I want to see you; I want to see you…
However; despite this he turned away and without looking back walked out of the classroom and began walking down the hallway once again.
As he walked he tightened the grasp his cape had around him; in fear of people trying to reach him through this shield...and seeing the truth behind this mask he always wore. By tightening it no one would be able to enter this shell; and leave an ever lasting mark…then just disappear without saying a word.
“Suzaku…kill…”
The darkness consumed him and allowed him to disappear; blend into the corridors where he suddenly stopped and faced a familiar room.
“Th-This is…the student council room…”
He smiled and laughed at the memories. Especially of the one where Arthur had come back and they threw a party.
Well…cat ears actually suited you…
“Suzaku! STOP!”
“Sorry *******…President orders…”
“Don’t say that with a smile!”
He chuckled at that bitter sweet memory and felt a heavier weight fall on him. He felt something grab onto him; embrace him preventing him from walking away from this place of happy memories; however he walked away with difficulty wanting to stare at that place forever. Because maybe; just maybe they’ll just show up…those happy memories…
Only this thought over whelmed me…
The thing about Zero was he always seemed to live in the past; he never paid attention to the present. Because everywhere he looked always brought memories; and he would always think; I remember that...I was happy then...For example when the current empress decided to pay a visit to Kururugi shrine (for no reason at all) Zero somehow felt reluctant to go. Because this place represented his innocence; and his innocence.
---------------------------------------
"Nunally! Becareful!" He called out to his skipping sister; he could tell she wasn't listening and carried on skipping. Sighing he laid against the tree trunk and closed his eyes.
"Hey...******...it's nice here...isn't it?"
He looked up at the other boy and nodded; "Yeah...I guess at least this place won't be invaded...erm Suzaku...?"
Suzaku looked at him; "Um yeh?"
He looked down and whispered; "Nothing..."
Suzaku looked at him confused and then watched the dancing Nunally happily. At least she was happy...
"I'm worried...that this will all end...and I won't be able to rescue her...this place...and you..."
Suzaku froze and turned to face him; he looked sad; as well as troubled. "...******..."
He looked up with a serious face and said; "I-If you call my name...I'll come running...I promise..."
Suzaku felt his mind turned blank and just stared at him not knowing what to say. Would he come running? Just by calling his name? Would he come to protect him? And this place where the three of them only knew about? Would he?
However; he didn't care about all those worries and smiled; nodding in agreement; "Un...me too...I promise..."
------------------------------------------
"...I promise?...Le..."
He felt his throat croak and he wrapped his hand round his neck; something inside of him wouldn't allow him to call his name. Maybe because he was scared; scared that by calling his name he wouldn't come and their beautiful; innocent promise would be broken...how he dreaded that.
I...I really wanna see you...
Zero was once again embraced by the soft glow of the moon; and faced it. He watched it; feeling the silence overwhelming him and that’s when he saw it…
Snow…?
One by one the white orbs fell from the sky and Zero watched in awe. It hadn’t snowed in a while; last time it snowed, to be honest was when…
“Because…snow eventually…melts away…”
His mind began to distort; pixelate images which had been forgotten to him. He backed away feeling his whole body tremble and looked down at his quivering hands.
“W-What?”
“I…I’m glad to have met you…Suzaku…”
“Ah…I remember now…”
