Well I have to say i think this is the most fun i've had at a show yet. The people, the bands, the venue, the performances were just amazing. Gabby, Beth, and John you guys are just great. OCKroq 95.1 is the best fucking radio station around cause ya know we're just cool like that haha and of course cause that guy in a pink pinstriped suit jacket has no clue where he's at. So anyway let me start from the beginning. We left the nowheres of PA around 10:30 after we picked up my 2 cousins and made our way to Cuyahoga Falls, OH. We got into Cuyahoga Falls around 2:30, almost made a wrong turn into a housing complex and didn't park by the Blossom Music Center until around quarter til 3. I was surprised at how short the line was considering by this time at the pittsburgh show the line was almost down to the Sheraton. And for you non pittsburgh livers, that's pretty damn far. But this line was only about 10 feet long considering that there was only a small pit and the rest were seat and lawn seats so the people not in pit had no reason to line up. I felt bad for them in a way, but i was really glad we got pit tickets. So I headed over to the Box Office to see what was going on with the OCK part of the show and found John sitting against a pole. Apparently the lady didn't have our wrist bands yet and we'd have to wait. We saw a few OCKs come up to the box office to ask about the same thing but we really didn't recognize them. A little while later Gabby came. Me and her just kinda looked at each other from a distance for a while not knowing whether we had the right person. We've actually been at the same concert twice before and probably right next to each other without know it was the other person. We finally met though. Later another ock came, Beth. So we all got to talking while waiting for our wristbands. The army came up to us had us fill some paper out, then we amused ourselves with watching these guys try and tie down this big blow up thing which we wondered why they weren't smart enough to tie it down BEFORE they blew it up anyway. After a while we see this guy come out of the side gate in jeans, a pink pinstriped suit jack, and sunglasses and we're thinking to ourselves wtf? is this the guy with the wristbands? so he comes up to us and asks if we're radio winners we just told him no since we figured out he didn't have the wristbands haha. then he asked "well who are you with?" we told him OCK and he goes "OCKroq 95.1?" we just laughed and said no just OCK. He said Oh and then asked "What's that?" so we spelled it out for the guy since he obviously thought everybody was with a radio station. That's how OCKroq 95.1 came about. We thought it was pretty funny at the time. After a while our wristbands came and the lady at the box office bought my fake ID [what an idiot] that john had made me and I laminated since I had no other ID. I was happy though that it worked. Well things seemed to be going well we lined up by the second gate waiting for Charlie to come find us when it was time. Yeah, don't count on things staying like that for long considering my luck. My wristband ended up breaking, don't ask me how I have no clue. Beth and Gabby's friend tried to fix it but after plastic snaps there's no putting it back together without some sort of miracle. And I definitly did not have that. So I waited for Charlie to come and when he came and told us to have our tickets and wristbands visible I spoke up. Here's the convo:
Me: Charlie we have a problem [innocent]
Charlie: What?
[holds up hand carrying wristband]
Charlie: Why's it not on your wrist? [in mock shock]
Me: It sorta broke! [mimicking his mock shock]
He just laughed at me and told me to hold it and not lose it. When we got to go through the gate and the lady scanned my ticket I passed Charlie and held up my wristband and said "Charlie, it's visible." he just laughed at me. So we went down this hugeass hill to get to the venue at the bottom. At first we had no clue where we were going since there were so many paths and trees but eventually we found the main one down the hill. When we got to the bottom we went over to the place where they let the pit people into, well the pit. But this older guy stopped us and was totally confused as to how we got in early and that he couldn't let us in cause they hadn't told him yet. So we had to start the line to get into the pit until Charlie came and got us, again. He got the orders to the guy to let us in so we could go get our spots. We decided to stand on pete's side right at the barricade since we were the only people there so far. Gabby's friend took the corner then gabby, then beth, then me. We were happy with being first row on the barricade that we decided not to go the meet & greet. Not that I didn't want to it's just that's a really good spot to be and I didn't want to lose it since there'd be no way of getting it back if I left for M&G. Besides i mean I'm going to be going to more FOB shows, OCK isn't going away, I could meet them later. So we all stayed but it was fun we made friends with the 2 security guards that were by us. They told us that they could care less if we took pictures as long as they weren't video it was just the security at the gate that we had to watch out for. So i got to take my camera out of it's hiding place and hold it. Don't ask where I hid it, it's for your own good. Gabby and Beth know where it was and they know how uncomfortable it was haha. And get your mind out of the gutter people it wasn't down my pants. So we waited and got to know our security friends they were really cool guys. Then we start to see these hordes of people start to come over the hill and the pit and seats started to fill up. In a way the crowd made me happy and made me sad. Happy because it was probably one of the nicest crowds I've ever been in. Everyone got along, no one was rude, the security was amazing for once, and just everyone was great in general. Sad because it made me realize just how ignorant Pittsburgh people are and that it's just pathetic that there's that much of a difference in crowd's just going 3 hours away. But other than that I think I enjoyed this show better than pittsburgh so count on me going there a lot more. Anyway back to the chain of events. So the crowd started to fill up, they started to do sound checks and that kinda stuff. After a while October Fall came out. Those boys are amazing I love that band. They did a great set it was kinda sad that hardly anyone knew their lyrics though. I noticed a couple of people who sang along with me though so it wasn't all that bad. I know my cousins were singing along they weren't far from me in the crowd. During October Fall when Nick got up on the drum platform to get the crowd to clap their hands he accidently slipped and fell a little. He got up laughing and not a lot of people noticed but a few did and we were laughing with him he's great. Oh and if you get a chance people, go out and buy these guys cd show some support. They're great guys, a great band and traveling this tour in a van. Check them out:
http://www.octfall.com/ .After those guys were done we waited for From First to Last to come on. They changed some of the stage equipment and tuned up again. The crowd really wasn't that bad yet I was sort of surprised at how long it took for the crowd to get the least bit bad. I have to give it to FFTL they had a nice entrance. The lights went out and strobe and lights started going off and this music started playing then the band came out and started into a song. You'd have to see it to appreciate it but I thought it was pretty nice. They played their set. I'll repeat myself from my account of the pittsburgh date, Sonny Moore is an absolute maniac on stage. That boy acts like he just drank about 50 cubs of caffeine on stage he's amazing. Matt just looks so comfortable on stage too. The one guy who was playing bass had himself painted again and had these black contacts in, yeah kinda creepy but not the point. He seemed to like water a little TOO much. He'd take a drink then give the whole crowd a spit shower with it and then throw the rest of the water on us and the bottle. First time, ok it was all right. Second time, ok you're having fun. Third time, getting old buddy. Fourth time, find another hobby with what you drink. Fifth time, STOP SPIT SHOWERING THE DAMN CROWD. Yeah pretty much. Other than that I like that band, good set and performance. Same routine tuning, soundchecking, changing equipment. Now I'm going to say this once and never mention it again. Before I went to the dates on this tour I actually liked and respected a few of Hawethorne Heights's songs. But I have to say after seeing those guys live I just don't know anymore. I mean the music is all right sorta but their live show is just boring. All they do is stand there and play their music basically and I mean that works for some bands but they definitly don't pull it off. The only part of that show that was remotely exciting was the last song where they played "Ohio is for Lovers" and that finally got the crowd to wind up some considering the show was in Ohio. Other than that the best part of that performance was the backdrops, i thought they were pretty haha. Same routine in between. Gabby, Beth, and I were trying to figure out what was on this one guitar that they tuned. At first they thought they were mushrooms, then I said cherries, then we thought apples, then we thought mushrooms, and finally settled on Apples. For the moment at least. When All-American Rejects came out we found out that the guitar was Tyson's. Those guys are great too they opened with Night Drive. This is the 3rd time I've seen them live and the first time i've actually gotten pictures of them. Ironic huh. Yeah but anyway I honestly think that Nick was drunk. He came out carrying a beer and downed at least 4 more while they were performing there was no way that guy was sober. He was wobbling a bit TOO much with that guitar over there haha. He just looked a little out of it and he didn't come over to our side of the stage much, he did in December and in Pittsburgh though. Mike was great and so was Chris on Drums. Tyson is another one of those that is a maniac on stage. Towards the end of their set he took off his guitar and went nuts on stage running around with his little cordless white mike [no pun intended =)]. Tyson made fun of the whole angy mother letter about fall out boy that was pretty much an add on to what made my night. After those guys finished they started to get the stage ready for Fall Out Boy to come out. After a while they dropped down the curtain for their entrance. They hadn't done this at Pittsburgh so I was waiting to see what it was like. Our security guard friend was having fun with the girls standing beside me by teasing them with the curtain. They wanted to look under that thing so bad and he kept it just out of reach everytime and kept peeking under himself or lifting it up just enough so they couldn't see perfectly. I just laughed at the whole thing. They basically played the same things in between bands as pittsburgh so i'm not gonna be redundant. After a while the lights dimmed and multicolor lights illuminated the curtain covering the stage. People went nuts with screaming when we saw shadows on the other side. It was basically all tech people though cause one of the times when the security guy was teasing those girls I caught a good glimpse of the stage. After a while we saw the actual guys' shadows and we heard them start to play the beginning to "Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" and after a few seconds the curtain dropped to the ground. Like I said before those guys never cease to amaze me. You know I hear all these people talking about "Oh Fall Out Boy sucks." "They're this terrible mainstream band" but that's the band that those people see. I see the band I saw 3 years ago. A band with 4 amazing guys writing and playing the music that they love. The band that drove that white van and played shows without barricades. That's who I see when I hear them, when I see them live, and when I hear other people talk about them. There's nothing else you can do but be happy for them because they've worked for this. I'll say it a million times over, those boys are gold. Joe came out with some weird red stuff on his face. We could figure out if it was blood, or paint and honestly i think we were a bit scared to find out. Pete was acting really weird though. Everytime he would do his talks at the microphone he'd knot the mic cord and unknot it, then knot it again. He did this everytime. I dunno he just worries me. But anyway Patrick looking our way cause we were part of the few who knew any words to Honorable Mention and The Music or The Misery was pretty cool and Pete looked at Gabby and smiled and pointed. Beth got a pic from pete. Pete made fun of his xcoughxrisquexcoughx pictures that got leaked online. He said: "We can't forget one of the most memorable moments in Emo history. How many of you have the internet in here." [crowd screams and raises hands] "How many of you have seen me naked?" [even more of the crowd screams] Some girl in the crowd screams "That's a lot of people Pete!" that was great. Later he talked about the letter that that mother wrote into the label. He said his whole speech about if you're going to have sexist, racist, or homophobic views then they didn't want you as a fan. Then he said that Yeah he knows he has a mouth like a sailor that's why for everytime they cussed on stage tonight that they were putting a t-shirt in a box and then they were gonna throw it out to the crowd. When they did that i ended up getting hit in the face with one and got it. It was a YL tour t-shirt. Then pete went on bascially putting 'Fuck' into any form of cuss word he could come up with to get that count up. Then we got to play fill in the blank. That was pretty much the best thing ever. Here's how that went:
Pete: So let's play fill in the blank. I say something and you fill in the blank part.
[crowd screams]
Pete: Mother BLANK!
[crowd screams Motherfucker]
Pete: BLANK Hole!
[crowd screams asshole]
yeah that was great. Later he quoted eminem too again. He said "Will smith doesn't have to cuss to sell records, we do. So fuck him and fuck you." Other than some of those quotes up there he said a lot of what he said at pittsburgh. At one point he asked where all the guys in the place were. And the guys screamed. Then he said "To all you guys out there who just came to see us to get laid by your girlsfriends tonight." he paused then said "After tonight, you're welcome." this amused our security friend and he just plain bust out laughing and turned around and smiled at pete that was great. Dirty came out in his grillz and fractured arm, yea that was great. he couldn't do anything cause of his arm but pete got him with that silly string in a can stuff as he left the stage so later during their encore when matt good came out and played with them dirty got matt with the silly string. they also did the pyro stuff during songs at this show they didn't do that either at pittsburgh. after those guys were done I had to find my cousins. Lexi ended up getting a piece of pete's hoodie that he threw out into the crowd. We got home around 3 AM and i still had to go to school the next day, or well really later that morning. But it was definitly worth it. I'll probably add more stuff later as it comes back to me.
OCKroq 95.1 is officially the best radio station. ever. the end. Gabby, Beth, and John you guys are amazing i'm glad I got to meet you we definitly have to see a show again together.
