kindness

Today I took a trip to Target, because it's one of my favorite places to go and I should not be allowed in their with any form of money, but that's not the point of this entry. After buy some organizers (which I love, I am OCD), I decided to head over to the drive in Starbucks. I know, Starbucks, that big commercialized company that is putting out ALL mamma and pop coffee shops, but it's the only coffee shop in Gilroy! Anyway, so I headed through the drive through, and a nice gentlemen asked me to hold on for a bit, and I said "Sure! No problem!". As I looked over the menu, I wondered what I could get in substitute for Soy milk, since coming back from India has made me Lactose-Intolerant, don't even get me started on my devastation of not having dairy products.

So I sat there waiting for the young gentlemen to speak to me through the great box. Finally he spoke in an extremely friendly voice, and it cheered me up. So I asked him if I could substitute the milk in my Frap for Soy milk, and they guy said no, So I then asked "Could I get soy milk in the Caramel Machiato?" and the guy said sure! And I was extremely happy and said "Well thanks!". The gentlemen told me my total and I was about to move forward when a young lady interrupted over the intercom saying "Can I just say, you are very polite and I really appreciate that. It's nice that there are people like you who are polite!" I was a little shocked and well embarrassed, because I was just being cheerful, how I am whenever I am going through the drive through, because in the end I end up with food and who wouldn't be happy?!?! I told her thanks and pulled up to the window. The girl and the guy explained to me how its nice that there are sweet people out there who don't rush and aren't rude. I was kinda surprised, I mean, we're in California, hello!! We are such a chill state! People need to head over to the beach more often.

My point is, when did we become so "rush, rush" so new york city hustle and bustle?? I mean just being polite made someone's day. Wouldn't this world just be a better place if we were a little polite to the people around us? I know it sounds cliched, but I mean, its the truth! Maybe we should all just take a moment, perhaps in the beginning of our day to do something that makes us smile and let that smile carry us through the day! Listening to music always puts me in a good mood, I dance around and sing! It's too good! Sooo, maybe do something that makes you feel great in the morning and that's how you start off your day. :o), its not something huge, but hey, it's a start!
