this is really for me, but i thought i'd share anyway
a week ago today was the rosary and viewing for beautiful danika tanori. friday was the mass and afterwards get together at mrs. tanori's house. i can hardly believe that i just typed that. i can hardly believe that it all really happened and wasn't just some horrible, sad dream.
on july 15, 2006, danika passed away after being ejected from the car she was riding in while in mexico on her way to san carlos for her first scuba diving trip. her friend traveling with her, lauren soto, was also ejected and passed away as well. so, so tragic. i didn't know lauren but danika and i have danced together for 12 or so years now and i loved her like a sister in my ballet family. she truly was one of the most beautiful people i have ever met both inside and out and i don't say that to be cliche in any way because she really was. danika was kind, loving, fun, funny, sweet, genuine, talented, and the list of admirable qualities goes on... it's no wonder she made friends with anyone and everyone she met. it's hard to make sense of why such tragic things happen to people with so much to give and so much life to live. but no one could argue she wasted any of her life by not "living" it and she was such an inspiration in that way. she will be missed greatly.
