Bled
by Franzene Galario
That night she sat in her house,
All alone and isolated from the rest of life,
She just couldn’t take it anymore,
So she decided to pick up the knife.
When all of a sudden she heard a knock at the door
And she hesitated to open up,
But she opened the door to see who it was,
And then she let the knife drop.
It was him;
The source of all this…
She burst into tears,
And leaned over to give him a welcoming kiss.
He pulled away,
With a worried look upon his face,
And giving her the last smile,
And their last embrace.
He lifted her chin up,
And this is what he said,
“ I got tired of the lies,
And now this is where it led. “
“ I think that you’ve lied,
To try to fit in,
But I didn’t know,
And my heart you did win,”
“ But I need someone who’s truthful,
With that special something,
But I never loved you,
And please stop crying,”
“ It hurts me just to see you,
Knowing that you’ve lied,
But you don’t know how I felt,
I kept those feelings inside,”
“ I thought I saw,
Who you really were,
But it wasn’t always clear to me,
It was always in a blur,”
“ I’d rather hurt you now,
Than hurt you in the future,
I decided best to leave you now,
But it should’ve been sooner,”
“ And promise me,
When we say good~bye,
That you won’t break down
And start to cry,”
“ But it wasn’t easy,
For me to let you down,
But if you ever need me,
I’ll always be around.”
And with those words,
He turned to leave,
And she wondered,
Why did he set her free?
She knew why,
And she ran out the door,
In hopes that she’ll be able,
To tell him something more.
She knew that she lied,
So she could keep his heart,
But she only lied to keep them
From breaking apart.
He was at the drive~way,
And she quickly she ran,
But she stopped in her tracks,
And got what she had in her hand.
“ I will do it,
Because I was a fool,
Tell me one reason why not,
Or else I’ll pull,”
“I don’t know what makes you happy,
Or what it is you find in me,
But I knew the times we spent together,
I was as happy as could be,”
“I want you to be the first,
To see me die,
And the first
To be able to cry,”
“Or if none of those are
What you intend,
Then at least,
Try to pretend,”
“I said one day,
Before I deceived,
I’d kill myself,
If you ever leave,”
“And now that moment
Has finally come,
I don’t know where
I got this from,”
“But I know that
I can’t bear to see you with someone else,
So I decided to end my life,
And die by myself,”
“I kept my promise
That I wouldn’t cry,
But if I don’t,
Then I will surely die,”
“And listen to me,
My words are true,
Even though I will die,
I will always love you.”
As she pulled the gun
To her head,
She pulled the trigger,
And there she bled,
She lay lifeless,
On the ground,
No one else
But him around,
He bent down to touch her hand,
He whispered her name,
He was trying to tell himself,
That he was the one to blame,
He leaned over
To give her the last kiss,
Because he knew,
Her; he’d always miss,
But before he could reach
Her lips began move,
And out of her mouth she uttered,
“ I love you.”
Those were the last
Words that she said,
And he helped her,
And lowered her head,
He looked at her,
Lifeless and pale,
He saw her heart,
Which began to fail,
He lay down beside her,
And watched her die in his arms,
Hoping that his hug,
Could keep her warm,
But still she lay there,
White and cold,
In his mixed mind,
Memories began to unfold,
He remembered the times,
That he spent with her,
And he looked back at the laughs,
As happy as they were,
That this girl
That he had to hold,
Had once before
Had a heart of gold,
And with that in mind,
He started to cry,
And think that
He was the reason she had to die,
But something, somewhere
Whispered no,
A voice so kind,
A voice so low,
And he knew that
It was her spirit that rose above,
Just to tell him
She would always have love.
But as her spirit
Flew away,
He didn’t get to tell her
What he needed to say.
But a few weeks later,
Came the day,
When they finally
Had to put her away,
Knowing what he said,
And this is where it led,
He watched her,
When they lowered her casket bed,
And out of his mouth
Came the words,
With so much meaning
Even when left unheard,
And somewhere out there,
She could hear,
Because she was
Always near,
She’ll forever remain in his heart,
Even though they were apart,
But even though it was a sad end,
He promised her to be an eternal friend.
Her spirit blew him one last kiss,
And one day in heaven she’ll look back and miss,
The guy who made her life worthwhile,
And because of that,
She continued to smile.
She was with him;
In his heart forever,
She’ll remain there always,
Even if they weren’t together.
