wheee IRL meetup
Was going to post this last night, but I ended up feeling like a blerghy faily thing for no discernible reason so I skipped it.
Yesterday I went up to Phoenix to see silvanna!
I stopped by the ostrich farm next to Picacho Peak and tweeted a bunch of pictures of the rainbow lorikeets they have there. Feeding them was too much fun. :D I also fed the ostriches but I was too busy getting pecked by them to take pictures.
Then I hopped back on I-10, got lost in some town I still don't know the name of looking for gas, and eventually found my way north to Phoenix. I braved the horrors of I-17 to get up to where Cam and her buddies were.
City drivers are batshit, let me tell you. I want to slap them all. :I
Once I actually got there I had a much better time. We all hung out in Burger King and drank soda and talked about random stuff, mostly robots, RPGs, and hospital horror stories. (remind me never to ride my bike again aaaaaaaa) I met a dude wearing giant rabbit ears and a tail, which threw me for a bit, but then I wanted to pet him but was too shy to ask. |D He was a pretty cool guy.
While I was there we went to a comic shop and I scored issues 1 and 2 of the Sector Seven comic miniseries. MORE CANON JETFIRE FUCK YEAH. If anyone knows where the other 3 issues can be found, please let me know. I didn't even know there was a Sector Seven comic until yesterday so I wouldn't even know where to begin looking. XD I also got issues 2 and 3 of the Drift miniseries. I already have the whole thing on my hard drive, but it's just not the same as having physical pages in your hand. Mmmmmm, Alex Milne art. :D~
I had to leave soon after that, but even factoring in all the crazy people on the interstate I had a decent time overall. Usually in social situations I have a tendency to be really shy and second-guess myself, and end up fading into the background and letting everyone else carry on the conversation (people from Botcon can probably attest to the number of times I ran off to my hotel room to hide, augh), and I'm kinda proud of myself for having had a pretty good handle on it yesterday. c: I almost felt like the life of the party! New one for me.
And now, I have two days off in which to laze about and maybe do the dishes and attempt fic-writing, so I guess I better get to it. 8D
