i've started reading al franken's new book "the truth, with jokes." so far it's pretty good---i liked "lying liars" better, but that's probably because it displayed much more franken humor. this book is definitely more truth than jokes, and once the reader gets over the expectation to be reading another "lying lairs," it pretty much cruises ( Read more... )

for me it's a total feeling of powerlessness. every time I read something else I simply feel sick. dispondant. it's like feeling there is no hope in educating and turning around these people follow and buy into the neo-con ideology. we can rant and rave and point out inconstancies and all those things until we're blue in the face and still they refuse to even think things through. they refused to be even the slightest bit phased, let alone outraged.

and they lie and they cheat and they steal. they are dishonest and blatantly violate the law and simple human decency. and they do it openly. and they laugh about it. how can we beat that without dropping down to their level? they have no fear of us. there is no fear of the common people. we are completely unable to hold them accountable or bring them to justice under the rule of law

and sad part is that when the people in power no longer fear the common people, there's really only one solution at that point. the only thing we can hope for is they do get too cocky and accelerate things faster to the flash point.

okay, I'm all ranty today, hope you don't mind me wandering over and ranting here.
