I sometimes forget that I haven’t updated my lj for ages. I swear I check lj on daily basis but when it comes to update I become the laziest person in the whole galaxy.
We are in Ramadan right now and fasting is kinda hard in such a hot time of the season but I think my body gets used to the routine.
I am doing the things as you can all predict. Here are some movie reviews for you.
- The Call
Halle Berry is the lead actress. The movie has a decent storyline (initially). Her character is working an emergency line and her job is to keep people on line till they get some help. In one call, she just messes up and causes a teen girl’s death. We go to some time later and have seen that she is no longer in charge but more like a tutor for the newcomers. During one of those ordinary tours, the station gets a call from a young girl. Inevitably Berry’s character has to answer the phone and continue speaking with the girl. Then the action begins.
The kidnapped girl, who is in a trunk, uses her friend’s cell and since it is a burner, nobody can locate her place. So the trunk scene is incredibly long. At one point you say “oh, come one man! Just take the girl from there!” Some bizarre murders happen along the way. One of them is our own Christopher Soprano. JFC, how dumb was his character?
You try to handle the movie till the god-awful ending. It was, well not the stupidest, but one of the worst finales I have ever seen.
- Trance
I have a soft spot for British actors in case you have not noticed. James McAvoy is clearly one of them.
Simon, I think that was his character, works in an art gallery and an art auctioneer. Anyways he gets involved in a robbery and he breaks the code that they have been taught. He tries to be a hero or we suppose so. When he opens his eyes in the hospital, he realizes he has lost the memory of where he hid the painting which the thieves try to steal. Vincent Cassel is the bad guy torturing poor McAvoy to remember the whereabouts of the painting. When he convinces that Simon is not lying, he finds a hypnotherapist for help.
Well that was weird. A bad guy is taking an unorthodox way of solving the issue. Then we start wandering inside the brain of a very handsome guy named J.McAvoy. I think that is point where the movie begins to be confusing. The hypnotherapist is also a different person we assume.
I don’t want to spoil the ending and I have to admit that I couldn’t understand some parts. But I am not sure whether I see this movie twice despite a beautiful creature like McAvoy:)
- Star Trek Into The Darkness
My god…My whole entry can be about this movie and it will basically consists of whining.
It is such a hot mess. I lost all my excitement for it when the villain was revealed. Do not get me wrong, I have nothing against Benedict Cumberbatch. He is doing great job in Sherlock and has a wonderful voice. I see lots of people fangirling for him but I just don’t. And some folks in tumblr makes the things harder on that. My biggest problem is that why he has to be Khan? I mean REALLY? I wish they would keep John Harrison character instead of Khan because Benedict C. is really good in the movie no matter how bad the part was badly written. I burnt into laughing when Spock yelled as Khaaaaan, though.
Also I still don’t understand when we will be able to see Jim Kirk as the real captain of Enterprise. You know like on the mission of five years as the both endings suggested?
Having said that, I enjoyed watching it. God, I know that is ridiculous, right? It is mainly because I love the core cast. Another objection is for the lack of Bones :)
- The Thing
I am talking about 2011 production, not the legendary John Carpenter one.
Well, it has something missing unlike the original and I can not put my finger on it. I think it is pretty great that they have chosen real Norwegian actors for the characters. Surprisingly, they are not wooden characters. Although you can not remember their names, you can still detect their role in the story. If that makes any sense but I guess you understand what I mean. I don’t know maybe because I had low expectations for the movie.
The special effects are amazing ( God, the creatures are so gross and I am glad I have seen those scene with an empty stomach=))
The pace is slow…But when the movie ended, my first reaction was “where is my “Thing” CDs?” It makes you want to watch the sequel immediately:) Really good with the flaws…
On TV side, well all my favourite shows are on hiatus. I think Hannibal hiatus is the worst because I know that I have to wait until next year:(
San Diego Comic Con Madness is all over the internet. We, the unlucky part of the fandom, can only look at the pictures and watch the videos submitted by generous and lucky fans. Seriously, I am grateful for all the people who share their experiences with us.
Currently watching : Quantum Leap
Shows to suggest; ( The theme is crime for both )
- Forbrydelsen ( Danish tv series )
It is hard to read subtitles and sometimes annoying but totally worth it. US version “The Killing” is not bad but when it is compared to the original, it is still behind of this=)
- Broen/Bron
Oh,wow. That one is pretty good, too. I think it again Danish/Swedish production. It has one of the most depressing season finale I have ever seen.
So much to talk about SDCC XFiles Reunion and Hannibal ( or should I say Pannibal) panels but I haven't seen them yet.My next entry will about them, hopefully soon :)
