Bring Tom Hanniger back!!!
Finally I’ve seen My Bloody Valentine 3D. I gave up that the movie would come to my local theatre till my friend said she went to a movie called MBV. LOL,she asked me where she could find HQ pictures of "Hanniger" guy and added she was looking for them since she came to the house. I don't have friends who watch SPN or know Jensen and it was great to chat with her about Jensen:)
I was going to see it on Friday but got some free one day earlier so I headed to the cinema right away:)
First of all, I like the genre, watching horror movies but slashers are too bloody for my taste. Yet there are exceptions that I loved seeing.
Frankly I have never heard of the original My Bloody Valentine. From what I saw in imdb, it was made in Canada and cult film from 80’s. I didn’t want to go through its plot not to be spoiled about the remake.
Surprisingly -for me-, Kerr Smith whom I first watched in Final Destination was in the cast, too.
Before commenting on the movie, I have to say that this was my first 3D experience, that’s why I can not compare it with other 3D movies. Just say it gave me what I wanted in that sense.
I was very excited when the movie started, I liked the opening sequence. However if you do not any information about the plot, it can be just a ride between news from the paper as the scene was so fast ( I remember similar sequence from the Red Dragon in which how doctor Lecter was originally captured) You hardly understand -at least me-what Tom did wrong and caused the deaths of people in the mine.
You see that picture of Tom in the papers. One thing I couldn’t figure out was that there were also pictures from the following scenes…
Poor Tom…He was the one who had to face to face with Harry. Even if cops rescued him being slashed by Warden, it was not hard to tell how much it was…
Tom arrived at the town to see that his old sweetheart married to someone else (sheriff Axel)
So far the movie was like the other horror movies. We were waiting for the first murder. The girl who was with Sarah, Tom and Axel (she was girlfriend of Axel,if I remember correctly) was the second victim. The miner killed the man whom she’s with at the motel room. Discussing the nudity at the movies is way beyond me but that sequence was pretty long and somehow unnecessary. After rewatching the trailer, I noticed that they used censored version in the trailer because she was all naked here
As the killing started after Tom came, he was the suspect. Axel was jealous of him as Sarah still loved Tom after all those years.
So after talking to Sarah, Tom decided to go to the mine. You can imagine how difficult it might be for Tom.
The attack in the mine caused the audience have second thoughts about the identity of the killer. For me, the scene in which the miner and Tom looking at each other was the key scene. I understood that Tom was behind these. The night before, Tom went to bar and he had a fight with the miners, the one killed in the mine was one of them he punched. He wanted revenge? I don’t know.
I never thought of miners could be so HOT
Yeah that scene…I went alone to the cinema but came across with one of my classmates. She came with her friend and we watched together. She asked me who was the actor playing Tom,actually I remember the whisperers "who's that boy? he is so cutee"
When the nurse told Tom that he could wear his shirt, we heard girls murmuring from the back seats like “no,he was fine”, “oh,god look at his body” lol, I couldn’t help giggling.
Of course nobody believed in him when he told he saw Harry in the mine. We learnt that Harry was killed by oldie guys we saw and they took Tom, Sarah, Axel and the deputy to the grave of Harry.
But Tom felt something was wrong and went to the mine again. I have to say that the atmosphere created in the mine was perfect. You wanted them to skip these scenes faster and to see the light.
From the beginning, we were told that Axel was having an affair with Megan who worked with Sarah at the store. She said she was pregnant and judging from her acts, she was not likely to break up. But the miner came and Sarah and Megan were stucked
Too late…Megan was killed of and we saw the writings on the wall were from the card Megan gave to Axel.
Btw the second half was better than the first, IMHO.
Axel was so clever that he understood Tom was the one when the deputy told where Tom was all those years. PS: I want that picture of Tom hanged in the station,lol. Seriously he was so hot:)
Axel called Sarah not to trust Tom and she crashed…
Deep inside you could feel that Sarah wanted to choose believing in Tom but she could not. I liked that scene back from the trailers. I don’t know this actress but she did her best to reflect the desperation of Sarah.
Big revival! Tom was our killer. I am not sure if I was the only one to think like this but I thought of vengeful spirits when the identity was revealed,lol. I was like “ no way, he must be possessed!” Watching too much SPN:)
I read some people were not happy with the acting of Jensen and picked up Kerr’s acting as the best. I thought just the opposite not because I love Jensen more but there was something bugging me with Kerr. Of course it is not easy to satisfy the ones who already saw the original movie. Because I always think that successful remakes are rare,you should go with the original.
For some, they saw “Dean” while watching. Frankly, I was afraid of thinking at the same way before going. In the beginning, for a few scenes you can feel Dean from the facial expressions of Jensen but after that he was “Tom” for me.
I wish these scenes were a bit longer. Yet we had to accept what we were given.
You realized that they gave away the ending in the trailer, but as you didn’t know who was inside that suit, of course you could not guess. His last looking was really creepy,you know it was like he was staring at you directly. Probably that sounds dumb, I thought about
this song here. An idea of music vid would be great using this scene and the song together:p
The ending suggests the probabilty of a sequel. That would be interesting but I don’t think there will be one. If there will be a sequel, I hope it will like a prequel to this movie. I want to see the conversion of Tom being the miner and that would be better for Jensen to show his ability more.
