Hmm well that darned 2 or 2.5 HP I dunno which but that little horizontal shaft engine will not freaking start no matter what I try so I don't know what is wrong with the thing and just want the thing to run so I can sell it to that guy that I was supposed to call back ages ago about it.
Then that made me think of my generator. Oh good heavens I don't know what is its trouble either, anyone wanna buy it, lol. Well it has a nice side shaft belt driven 5 HP gasoline Tecumseh engine in it with perfect rings thus is why i use all synthetic oil in it. Basically it just needs the carburetor to be adjusted and fixed so the lil screw on the bottom doesn't drip out gas and needs an air filter and the governor set up so it will hold the engine at 3,600 RMP and when it gets a big load kick up the throttle to hold the steady 3.6K RPM. It is supposed to make 2,500 watts of 120 volt AC 60Hz power and I'm pretty sure that the 5 HP engine has enough HP to get the full 2,500 Watts at a decent voltage. Then silly old me wanted to know what the black things were on the alternator and took them out to find they were brushes, lol, then put um back in but screwed one in a little too tight and broke off half the screw thing that holds it in now it is in perfectly now and is perfectly grounded to the side and is tight and snug and everything and works fine only when it wears out it will be hard to replace but prolly not impossible if they even make parts for that old thing, I'm an idiot. But it did have a lot of graphite left on it so it should last a long time yet. Oh well i hope that someday i can get the governor fixed so it can work nice and i can start it up and plug in things to it and suddenly turn on a big load like the 1,600 watt microwave and have the thing kick up the throttle to keep the correct voltage and then drop it back down when the microwave turned off, that way i could have other things on it and not blow things out by setting it too run too fast to make it right when it had a big load on it. Of course i could stand outside by it the whole time with my volt meter and my finger on the throttle to control it but that would get VERY boring and make it hard to use the electricity for my own purposes anyway. Grr.
So the biggest things for the generator are:
1) Fix gas leak in carburetor
2) Make governor work right or just get it hooked up in the correct way
3) Get an air filter
Little things:
Some sort of capacitor or resister or whatever thing in the electronics to make electrical noise go down or something but that's not that big a deal and if i run my comp off it, my fancy surge proctor will either fix that on its own or reject the electricity from the generator and create its own for the computer with its battery and inverter but that won't last long as the battery will run down.
Fancy things I can do to it are:
Spiff up the black paint job that I mostly already did.
