So I took my car into Avenue Auto Clinic in Painesville because I have heard good things about them and they have done good work for me on my car in that past. This time it was because my car failed the stupid e-check because the O2 sensor circuit had a slow response time. Well they didn't call me today so I called them to find out how my car was doing. They told me that the (I don't remember exactly what they called it) but the pipe that connects the end of the first catalytic converter to the begging of the second catalytic converter needs replaced because there were supposedly holes in it that made it so air could mix in \with it and they said that was probably why it was failing the e-check with the oxygen sensor thing. The guy told me that he found the part for $345 and was calling around to see if he could find a cheaper one. Now this stupid thing has a section that's probably a little less then a foot long of that mesh pipe stuff and I'm pretty sure that is why it is so damned expensive and why it needs that mesh thing I do not know.
Well i just looked it up online and it appears the mesh thing is to allow for engine movement during operation and this is an example of what the whole thing looks like and mine won't look quite the same but it's the basic thing.
I think $345 is bullshit to pay for that so he best find a cheaper one even if it takes a few days longer but with my luck he probably won't. Also my car runs JUST FINE how it is but I have to have the damned thing pass the stupid e-check so I can get the new stickers for my license plates. They should just make the entire country follow the exact same sets of regulations for an e-check or get rid of it completely because some people do have to do this e-check thing and other people in other parts of the state don't and that's stupid. Also if you are in the military then your family doesn't have to do the e-check, what the hell.
So this is going to cost a lot to get done, well one thing is for sure, whether this fixes the problem or not I WILL be granted my new license plate sticker but will have to have it fixed by next year or else spend another $300 or more dollars on pollution related repairs to get another year extension. That's the way it works, the limit is $300 and then you get another year but for me just the part alone is over $300 so it will probably cost over $400 I'm thinking before it's all said and done and if that's the case then the damned thing better pass the e-check so I don't have to screw around with it this time next year.
I don't see why they can't take an arc welder and some welding rods and plug it into a high current 250 volt electrical outlet (they have three phase electricity so this should be a piece of cake for them) and weld over the damned holes, that's what I would do except I don't have the equipment to do it otherwise believe me I would.
I hate the damned e-check, especially since most of the counties in Ohio don't even have to do it, that's seriously bullshit and not fair.
