The English Patient tattoo

"...her body full of sentences and moments, as if awaking from sleep with a heaviness caused by unremembered dreams" (Michael Ondaatje, The English Patient).

This phrase from Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient really stuck with me when I read the book in September. I'm a writer and aspiring English teacher, so I really love the more literary interpretation of this image.

This tattoo is in my own handwriting-- I literally wrote it down one time on a piece of paper in the studio and that became the stencil.  I think that's important to the general sentiment of the tattoo. It's a dedication to two things: my writing and my past. I want to continue to be a "body full of sentences" in both the stories I can tell about my own (very very dramatic) past and the stories I create through my poetry/creative writing.
