The Menagerie

Aug 31, 2008 00:05

Was trying to take my mind off school and art for today, and was really inspired by that really cool shop in Bali Lane, so I decided to get to work on one of the Menagerie stuff. So here's a prototype of an owl that I did today:

Actual Size: 32mm in diameter
Materials: Magenta Disco cloth (lol), white felt, thread (yellow, red and purple), Silver cord, buttons, Cadmium Yellow Acrylic paint, White Card, Markers.

I actually have more than a page of ideas for stuff to make. Hahah at least I was productive today... (Ning! Ask me about them, loll)

Don't really want to flood this place, so here's Went to Ichiban Boshi at the Esplanade with my sis today, after art. I must say, I did partially leave that early because I was getting increasingly irritated at the shallow talk going on in the art room. But that's besides the point.

I *hearts* the pumpkin croquette. XD

So anyway, after that we went down to North Bridge Road to see if I can find any shops to get incense and stuff for my art - and there were plenty. The problem, though, was that each time I approached one of these shops, something in me just kept telling me not to go in. I don't think it was really fear, but something a lot more spiritual (my parents called it instinct), like a kind of warning against something inside or something. Lol.

Maybe I think too much.

But the other reason we were there was cos we wanted to check out the vintage and eclectic shops along Haji Lane - and maybe see if we could get a Haori (that liz has been raving about, lol) from the japanese vintage shops there. I want to know when jap vintage EVER opens. Lol. House of Japan was open though, but the only ones I thought were really nice were of Furisode style (i.e. over dressy), so I didn't end up getting any.

Then we checked out the stores in Bali Lane, and went upstairs to this awesome shop that sells local handmade stuff. THEY ARE SO COOL, I now have a favourite place to shop haha. The girl was even nice enough to wrap my purchase up in a brown paper and decorate the package. ~fwee. ((((:
