A shadowy figure quietly moved through the darkness, his steps as silent as those of a predatory feline hunting its prey. Grey, wolf like eyes glowed slightly as they caught the light of a street lamp just outside of the window before fading back into complete darkness. Just a few feet away stood a single bed with the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen sleeping upon its warm softness. The male knelt beside his secret love and watched her as she dreamed, slowly running his hand through her hair and along her cheek, admiring her. For just how long he had been there he didn't know, nor did he care. All that mattered was her, that very moment.
But all was not right as it should have been, for he knew that she would soon be wisked away by another man. A man who, despite popular belief, had an enormous advantage. He knew what it was the lovely woman had wanted so desperately, and had promised her the world. He told her all that she had ever wanted to hear, using his amazing, even poetic way of words to his advantage. But the male kneeling before the woman now? There was nothing he couldn't do, or so it had seemed to so many others. Indestructible, invincible... talented in more ways than anyone else could possibly be. A master of the dark arts, the child of the night. Darkly alluring and mysteriously enticing. But for all that it was worth, he had never been able to communicate feelings other than anger and hatred. Nor had he ever really needed to. It was all that he truly felt. But the angelic vixin he now knelt before in the middle of the night had shown him so much more. She had taken his hand when no one else dared to even hold eye contact. She had shown him compassion and love. She was patient enough to learn just why he was the way he was.... saw past all of it right to what was in the innermost core of his being. He had lost far too much in his life, and she simply could not be one of them. Not only had she saved his life, but she had saved his very soul.
He stood now, only to move onto the bed and lay himself against her warm body. The girl stirred only slightly, but did not wake. After a moment's hesitation, the male leaned in closer to her so that their heartbeats acted as one, and pressed his lips to hers in a tender, heartfelt kiss with his eyes closed. Thick, black hair had fallen over his face slightly, acting as a curtain to block out the rest of the world. It was only them. For a few moments there was no reaction, but then she slowly opened those vividly green eyes and looked up at her closest friend with slight confusion. They had kissed many times before, but never like this. She was speechless, but finally seemed to have decided on something she might say... But did not get the chance. The male leaned in and caught her words in another kiss, this one much more passionate than the last. This was the first time she had woken to his kissing her... And indeed it caught him off guard. She would deny him, he knew it... but thenit felt as though the world had been lifted off of him when, to his surprise, her soft feminine hands found their way onto his back and the kiss was returned with just as much burning passion as it had been given.
