The past, which made the present.

You know, just slightly before closing the shop (my dad's shoplot) just now, while i was doing the returns for the unsold newspapers, i was sorta curious about the birth of The Star (a local newspaper if no one knows >.>) so i asked my mum, which leads to mum asking my dad.

so my dad was telling mE stories bout how The Star was actually born in Penang and meant for the Penangites,(which was where my dad was raised) then about how it expanded to KL, then about how bold the daily paper was with the Tunku being very liberal in questioning the governments actions, then about how it got banned for those and such.

So while he was telling all these, he suddenly went to the 'reminiscing-about-the-past' mode, bringing us to the era when he was a teen helping out at his dad's bookstore somewhere at Penang and such. What surprised mE was that my dad said he actually served Tunku. o_O yes i was o_O! Then he said he served Tunku at the bookstores, guiding him about the books or so xD well but still, it was amazing hearing his stories. He also said he met and talked a little with (Tun) Dr Mahathir (then was the Education minister). His dad's bookstore was quite in the glory days those days so he met lots of influential people there xD but well, he told us how humble Tunku was and so the story went on~

When i hear all these from dad, deep down inside i envied him. Yes, i was being jealous of his life there for a while xD i mean, yeah we have all the techs and a better living than those days, but i still feel the people back then was happier and enjoy life much more than us now. In fact, those were the true days when people were Malaysians. If we were to compare, those days were really rich with all these tolerance within the multi-racial society and stuff compared to the generation now.

Tho no matter how hard I try, I can't feel or imagine the excitement of the people those days during the time Malaya was gaining its independence, I can still say I'm really glad I'm being born a Malaysian, I'm proud being a Malaysian, I love my country very much ♥ and I'm very thankful to our people, who made this happened. ^^

Happy 50th Merdeka! Malaysia ♥
