ERICA
After 45 minutes Callie came back out and I was told that she had another session on Friday at the same time. I could tell that Callie was emotionally drained so I drove her home and she went to sleep almost immediately. I started doing some research but I couldn’t concentrate. I walked into Callie’s room and saw her asleep. I noticed her eyes slowly fluttered open. She smiled at me.
“Can you hold me?” She asked. I readily agreed and I climbed into bed next to her. She rested her head on my chest and hugged my waist. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and dropped a kiss on her forehead. The kiss sent flutters through the both of us. Her breathing evened out and she fell back asleep.
I held her and a few tears escaped. I found it hard to believe that she and I were both here now. At one point I thought that I would never see her again, that I would never hold her again and although I know that she is extremely vulnerable at the moment I know that I have no choice but to help her and make her strong again.
I don’t know if we’ll ever be the same but I will help her get through this and I will be her friend for as long as she needs.
CALLIE
I woke up early after a restful night. Erica still had her arms wrapped around me and I was so happy to be in her embrace. I would have given anything to stay like that forever but unfortunately nature called so I slid out of her arms and went to the bathroom. I grabbed my towel and ran the shower. I slid my clothes from the previous day off and got in. The water cascaded my body. After my shower I changed and headed into the kitchen. She was cooking on the stove. I could smell the bacon and eggs. “Hey” I said. She smiled back but then she started to stutter. “Mark, is….ummm, he’s going to come pick you up today and I thought you guys could hang out together. He, he’s been really worried about you.” My smile faded but I mumbled, “Okay. What are you doing today?’ She immediately looked away from me. “I have plans.” She said softly. “Oh.”
I’d never really thought about the fact that maybe she’d moved on; maybe she was seeing someone now. I walked back into my room where I shed a few tears. She told me that she loved me but maybe she doesn’t love me like I wished she did. Maybe I’m just a friend to her now. Addison’s one of my closest friends and I love her but I don’t love her the way that I love Erica.
ERICA
I immediately knew that I’d said something upsetting the minute Callie didn’t talk. If there is one thing I know about Callie it’s that she talks non stop to the point where she rambles about nothing and everything. I turned the frying pan off and followed into her room. I saw her wiping a tear from her eye. “Cal, honey. What’s wrong?” She wouldn’t meet my gaze. “Nothing, I’m fine. Let’s eat.” She hurried out of the room. Maybe, Maybe I should tell her about Sophie.
CALLIE
I rushed out of the room and sat at the table. She served up breakfast and I ate slowly. Picking at my meal, suddenly I wasn’t very hungry even though I hadn’t eaten anything since last night. She broke the silence. “Mark will be here at 11 o’clock.” I nodded. “Who are your plans with?” She looked away from me. “A friend from work.” I knew immediately that that wasn’t the entire truth. Erica didn’t make friends at work. She has acquaintances and colleagues but not friends. I was her only friend at Seattle Grace. Is this person the same kind of friend that I was? A lone tear slid down my cheek and I tried desperately to wipe it away. She dropped her fork and took my hand. “Cal, she’s just a friend. That’s all that she means to me. I promise.” I couldn’t handle the relief that washed over me and I bursted into tears. She quickly got up from her chair and stood beside mine, wrapping her long arms around me. “Shh, Cal. It’s okay.” When my tears subsided she told me to try and eat. She walked out of the room and returned with a silver key. “Here, Cal. This is my house key. So you can get in whenever you may need.” My face lit up as she handed me the key. “thanks.”
ERICA
Mark arrived at exactly 11am and I greeted him at the door. We had both bonded over Callie and I didn’t hate him as much as I used to. I respected how loyal and concerned he was of Callie. “So, who are these plans with?” My smile instantly failed. “Just a friend.” He smirked at me. “Must be some friend.” I turned my gaze to where Callie was standing. “Hi, Mark.” He smiled at me. “Are you ready to go?” I nodded. I walked them both to the door and hugged Callie tight before she left. I whispered in her hair. “Call me if you need anything okay?” She smiled and nodded.
CALLIE
Mark decides to take me out for lunch. He knew that I hadn’t been eating much and even with Erica’s persistence my appetite just wasn’t very large. He took me to a restaurant, A la Swante.’ A French restaurant. It was dimly lit and looked rather romantic. I decided to keep it in mind if Erica and I were to ever go on a date. Which I really hoped one day, preferable soon, we could.
ERICA
I quickly got changed and grabbed my purse. I was meeting Sophie at A la Swante’. I climbed into my car and headed towards the restaurant. I was meeting her there in twenty minutes.
Finally arriving, I saw her standing outside the restaurant. I walked over to her and she hugged me. “Hi, Erica.” I smiled. She led me into the restaurant and we sat down at a secluded table. The restaurant was dimly lit, it had a very romantic feel. “Soph, you do know that we are just friends right.” She grabbed my hand and smiled. “Yeah, I know. But you know me, I like to get close and personal.” She smirked at me and I laughed. She had asked me out on a date on numerous occasions but I had repeatedly declined. We became friends fast and we talked a lot but it helped me realize that I wasn’t over Callie and that Sophie was never going to be who I wanted.
CALLIE
I felt the food that I had just eaten feel like lead as I saw Erica walk into the restaurant with a pretty red head. They were holding hands and laughing. I immediately felt like I was going to throw up. Mark hadn’t noticed them yet but caught me staring.
MARK
My face immediately fell when I noticed the sad and confused expression on Callie’s face. I turned around to follow her gaze and I was shocked to see Erica and a hot red head.
I immediately saw Callie get up and head to the bathroom. She was inside before I had a chance to say anything. I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. It looked as though Erica was on a date.
I sat at the table for ten minutes hoping and praying that she would come back but she didn’t. I was worried. I could tell that she was absolutely devastated. I was just about to walk over to talk with Erica when I saw her come back out. Her eyes were blood shot and it was plain to see that she’d been crying. She grabbed her purse and I threw some money on the table before following her out where she had fled to my car. I opened it up and watched as she broke. The tears fell and sobs shook her whole body. I wrapped her in my arms and tried to comfort her. “Shh, Cal. Maybe it wasn’t what it looked like.” She was mumbling between her sobs. “Lied….. Not just friend…..i love her…” I held her as she cried and when her tears finally subsided she told me to take her back to Erica’s.
