I wrote this up in the wee hours of the morning, but the power went out and I had just enough battery life to finish writing and save, which is why I'm only just posting this now. Also, I copied it into Word to spellcheck (utter fail, Word thinks every third word is misspelled) and this is seven pages long. Yeah, you've been warned.
So, October 14 Shonen Club. Man. I mean, wow. That's only the second time I've ever downloaded a full episode of Shokura, and, just. Yeah. (The first time was for Star Seeker, ahaha.) I watched it with Nika, and I swear it was fifty minutes of us hitting random keys and screeching about how we're going to hell so bad. I am finding myself unable to sleep (GEE THANKS SENGA *headdesk*) so I thought I may as well go through the episode again and write up my thoughts on it, because... well, I don't need a reason. Senga's hips are my reason, okay?
Shonen Club, starto!
Opening bit. Nika thinks Tsuka's new haircut is awesome, I think it makes him look like a high school feminist. Or Ohno. Also, it appears everyone onstage who's fifteen or younger is clinging to each other. "SAFETY IN NUMBERS!" Nika cries, and I cannot deny that this seems like as good an explanation as any. After all, Tackey is in this episode.
"Hey~ Say Say Hey Say!" = cute chant
"Ya~ Ya Ya Ya Yah!" = cute and also heartwarming chant
"A.~B.C. A.B.C.!" = a little retarded, I must admit
"Ki~ss My Footo Two!" = oh god, I'm embarrassed for them
And JJE get no love. Am I the only one who misses their group dynamic? They've been completely harvested for members, and some of my favourites were overlooked. Totally illogical, too, as Hashimoto's only fourteen and absolutely smouldering. (I'm only rambling/ranting because Koyama's going blah blah blah and boooooring. =P)
"Yabu Kota desu!"
"Yaotome Hikaru desu!"
"Nakajima Yuto desu!"
DESU DESU DESU. TENIPURI FLASHBACKS FOR THE WIN. (Oh god we're only three minutes in. XD)
Rap battle OMG I LOVE TOTSU SO MUCH. And then... KISS-MY-ME-MINE. I love this song even more than I love Totsu because it's on wheels. Oh, the aura of cute fluffiness Kisumai are exuding right now? Ohhh just wait until the episode is over, that lovely image will be completely destroyed and you will love it.
Throw to Ya-ya-yah for Itoshi no Playgirl, my most favouritest Ya-ya-yah song. Oh, Taiyo. ♥ Get a good look at Taiyo and Shoon, folks, 'cause you won't see them for the rest of the episode. *sigh*
And then... KANJIRU MAMA NI YOU & I. AND TAKAKI IS JUST WEARING A TANK TOP, NO JACKET. Osaka boys clearly kill braincells. Hasshi smoulders, I am a little bit more damned then I was a minute ago. SIGH.
And then A.B.C. with One TWo Three, which is significantly less winning than Star Seeker, but at least Totsu has black hair again! Shinyshiny. *grabbyhands* Then they sing Naked with Question?, no, that's just the name of the song unfortunately. Camera focuses on Ishigaki a lot, presumably 'cause he's got a famous niichan whom he happens to be a lot smexier than, fyi. I was kind of surprised Kawai managed to keep his clothes on through two songs. Surprised, but not exactly impressed. I AM DISAPPOINTED, KAWAI, I HAVE COME TO COUNT ON YOU FOR, WELL, STRIPPING.
Koyama talks, boring, then he throws to a Chinen-Yamada-Yuto Letter Corner that is made of adorableness, I swear. There's lots of cuteness and smiling and stuff. I love the way Yamada smiles at Chinen, but not as much as I love the mildly creepy way Yuto smiles at Yamada.
For the highlights:
Chinen: Stumbles over his words a bit. Very cute.
Yamada: I swear you can see Yuto's ego inflating as he speaks. And OMG their eyes lock for a second and I felt like a dirty old lady for watching and I'm not even sure why. WTF, YUTO, AT LEAST WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE BACKSTAGE. XD
Yuto: His voice cracks. Repeatedly. I swear he hit puberty while reading that letter.
Then they go right into a song, and have I mentioned yet that they're all yellow with black mesh? Yeah, like Rikkai but way better. And Chinen has this adorable really long scarf that hangs to about his knees. NONSEQUITUR -- presumably they all do this grindy hipswivelly dance move, but the camera's on Yamada and I was all, "WTF, I didn't know he could do that," and considered covering my eyes. JAPAN IS DAMNING ME BIT BY BIT. They could've put the camera on Arioka or Takaki, but nooooo. (Not that I'm complaining.) Chinen gets some solo lines which is great because he has such a pretty voice, and then about a billion different Juniors come onstage for Hey Boys & Girls and Chinen gets to sing lead and hay if it isn't the Morimoto kyoudai dancing in the front! They're so cute. Kyomoto's also there, but I think I'm probably the only person who could pick him out of a crowd, so... (I guess that means I'm the only person who noticed he's got a better haircut and has lost some babyfat. What, I'm just saying.)
Cue some fragments of J.J. Express (Takaki, Inoo, Arioka, Kamei, and Hashimoto) with Shakalaka, which has got to be the best song title evar. Hasshi smoulders so much, I SWEAR HE DOESN'T LOOK FOURTEEN officer. Oh hey, there's something I didn't notice the first time around, they all do the hipswivelly thing I was screaming about Yamada doing a second ago. Camera on Takaki and Hasshi because I guess Japan wants to make good and sure I really am going to hell. Another thing I didn't notice the first time around was that Inoo's wearing the Rolling Stones tongue necklace, which is of course the same as Yamapi's, Kamenashi's, Matsujun's, and ONE OK ROCK's Taka's. (I'm a bit of a freak about JE jewellery, so sue me.) Man, JJE had so much chemistry and potential, but this really isn't the time for me to be whining about such things, so I'll just point out that I find it hillarious that Hasshi is the youngest in the bunch but still the tallest.
Random query, does anyone know what's up with Asaka and Fukazawa? I know there were rumours they were dropping out of JE, or just taking a break, or any number of things, but I have no idea what the end consensus was. Did they just drop off the face of the planet?
Then Koyama and Nakamaru talk to Question? and it's kinda boring because there's no dancing or hipswivelling or anything. They talk about the Pink Team or something (?) and Fujiie gets smacked around a bit. (Group uke, y/y?) Yodagawa has the Stones tongue necklace too, now that I look closely. They all kind of look like they got their accessories from a pawn shop or dollar store. They go on stand by and then sing Beautiful Mind, which is kinda nice. I was kind of expecting it to pick up a bit, but no such luck. Real music should not be on Shokura, it confuses me! I watch Shokura for the shiny and gay, not the boys who can actually play instruments. ANYWAY.
Cue Team Pink versus Team Blue! (These aren't the actual team names, I'm just calling them by their headband colours for the sake of simplicity. Pink is actually Jounetsu Rainbows and Blue is Dream Bombers, how cute. ^.^) They have to listen to the intro to a Tackey and Tsubasa song, then run to centre stage, hit the button buzzer thingy, and say what the song is. The catch? Tackey and Tsubasa are sitting right there. Oh man, that would freak me right out, especially if I was sitting right next to Tackey. (I just realized that the song clip that plays when Tackey and Tsubasa come onstage is from Twin Bee, a DDR song. HOW RANDOM. For the record, I pwn hardcore at that song.)
Team lineups:
Pink: Yabu, Kawai, Senga, Takaki, and Yonemura
Blue: Hikaru, Goseki, Fujigaya, Inoo, and Ishigaki
There will be a lot of flailing because Nika and I were really good at this game.
Kawai gets the first one (Samurai), thus laying down the foundation for his absolute pwning at this game. He's a total Takkitsuba fanboy, apparently. He then does his impression of Tackey singing the song, totally destroying any chance he might have had at redeeming himself for his last impression of Tackey. Oh Kawai. Tackey laughed, but Tsubasa just kind of nodded and smiled, all, "Yes, very accurate."
Next song both Ishigaki and Hikaru made a mad dash for the buzzer which made me laugh because dur, boys, you're on the same team. Ishigaki got it (Sotsugyo, I think?), nothing really exciting there.
Next came Kamen, which had me kind of flailing because man I love that song. (Nobody cares, Kei...) Fujigaya looked like he was going to go for it but before he was even standing Kawai leapt at the buzzer, seriously, got there in one step, and further proved himself a fanboy by getting it right.
Goseki, Hikaru, and Yabu all ran for the next one (while I flailed all "It's the one Golf and Mike did a cover of!") and Goseki and Yabu had to janken over who got it first. Yabu loses, squeaks like a little girl, so cute, and Goseki gets it (Epilogue).
Suddenly Tackey decides that Senga's not making enough of an effort and tells him off for it, and Kawai tells him he has to go for the next one. He actually gets up and heads for the buzzer before the song starts, and when he gets to the buzzer he hits it like a total girl, I don't know how else to describe it. Yabu looked like he was having a seizure he was laughing so hard, and Senga didn't even know what song it was. Fujigaya got it (One Day, One Dream).
Pause to check the score, it's 30-20 in favour of the Blue Team, so they decide to make each question after this worth twenty points. The next song is about a half-second of near silence, so of course Kawai the fanboy knows what it is! (Sora no Screen? I'm not sure how to romanize the katakana.) He proves his fanboyness by dancing around and singing it while Tsubasa smiles but looks less than impressed. Tackey comments that it seems the songs are getting more difficult, and yells at Senga to try harder. XD
The next one is just a sound kind of like a chime (I'll admit I got it right away and was kind of astonished Yabu didn't, I mean he and Tackey were in the drama it was the ED for...) Hikaru runs forward awkwardly and Senga swoops in, looking all smug, and gets it wrong. Takaki runs in and declares it to be Tackey and Tsubasa's Ki-se-ki, also wrong, on a technicality. Inoo, on the other hand, knows that Ki-se-ki is just Tackey's song, and I swear Tackey was just glowing. He assures Takaki that at least he was cute, and totally tears into Senga again.
I swear the Juniors never learn, because Senga declares the next one to be Tackey and Tsubasa's Get Down, and the fangirls in the audience couldn't have been any more awesome in that moment. "Eeeeeh?" Fujigaya got it, but I swear Senga gets cuter each time he fails. "Maybe if I get cuter and cuter they'll forgive me!"
The next one was very cute because about half of them stood up but only Ishigaki ran forward, and of course he got it right. (x~Dame~.) Hikaru danced a bit but didn't bother to stand up first, lol.
Senga stood up for the next one but Kawai was on that buzzer like a bolt of lightning. He IDs it as Serenade while dancing, has he no fear? RIGHT IN FRONT OF TACKEY. Kawai's got this under his thumb, so they up the questions to thirty points a piece.
The next one was hillarious because everyone seemed to recognize it, but OMG. I KNOW YOU GUYS ALL KNOW THE DANCE FOR IT. (I swear it will take me months to get this song out of my head.) But what really killed me was that even Tackey didn't seem to get it at first. Fujigaya and Senga got it at the same time but Fujigaya got to the buzzer first and got his entire team to dance along with him as he sang... Venus.
Cue half of Pink Team running for the buzzer at once because nobody could not get Yume Monogatari. Seriously, favourite (debuted) JE song evar. Senga was the only one wearing enough feathers to stand in the front as they sang and danced, and oh, it was kind of pathetic. His voice kept cracking and then... "Uh, nananah na na..." Suddenly everyone realizes that Yonemura doesn't know the dance, and Senga's utter fail is outdone. XD
120-90, still in favour of Blue, so they make the last one worth 100 points at Tackey's request. Overkill much? Nika got this one first with me not far behind, but Tackey, oh god, he didn't get it until after Kawai was singing and dancing. To compensate he got up and danced along, which was very cute, and then everyone taunted him, and he defended himself by saying it was hard! Tackey, if even I can get it, there's no excuse for you missing it. XD
Victory goes to Pink Team, and I realize man, I've given a total play-by-play of this, haven't I? (I just type fast, my bad. ^.^;;;) Koyama and Nakamaru talk to Tackey and Tsubasa about I'm not really sure what, although Ueda and Jin were mentioned, and then Tackey and Tsubasa sang Real DX in OMG NORMAL CLOTHING, this has got to be a first for JE. At least the backdancers (Ya-ya-yah, A.B.C., Kisumai, and was-JJE) were blindingly shiny. But man can Tackey and Tsubasa dance.
A bit on Tackey's big project, which I've only heard of because of passing mentions in comms. It's basically a couple minutes of him harassing poor Yara, who looks increasingly uncomfortable, so let's just talk about how great he'd look with a little manly chin fuzz. Yeah. He has a killer smile, too bad Tackey appears to have him scared witless. He's looking a little thinner than usual, but maybe I'm just being (characteristically) paranoid. Anyway, the other people involved in Tackey's project are apparently Senga, Hamanaka Bunichi (a Kansai Junior who desperately needs a haircut), and Yamamoto Ryota (from M.A.D.). I still have no idea what's going on, but I sure wish Yara would smile or something.
Koyama and Maru talked to Yabu, Hikaru, Arioka, and Takaki about, well, I'm not really sure what. Hikaru was talking about 'almighty'? I dunno, but they mentioned Shoon and I squeed. Then Arioka and Takaki talked about eggs (I don't know, these kids confuse the hell out of me) and throw to "Kisu mai footu de *pause* tuu de" (oh Arioka never change your dorky ways XD) with Fire Beat, a.k.a. the reason JE fans everywhere are now going to hell. I swear I should've noticed Arioka's smug little smirk the first time around. It clearly says, "Ahahaha, you're selling your soul by watching this."
I am thinking the best way to summarize Fire Beat would be with an experpt from my conversation with Nika at the time.

xxlithiumflower I LOVE JAPAN.
In retrospect, I'm surprised we managed so much punctuation.
To summarize in more coherent terms, there's a lot of crotchthrusting and airhumping, and remember me flailing about hipswivelling earlier? OH GOD, SENGA ALONE MAKES THEM LOOK LIKE TOTAL AMATEURS. (Sixteen, folks, he's sixteen. I am only slightly comforted by the fact that anything over fourteen is completely legal here.) Oh, Tamamori and Nikaido get very close to each other. It's magical. And Kitayama has very talented hips. Yes. I'm kind of hoping that Senga takes Kitayama's cue and stops wearing a shirt altogether, because even fully clothed Senga is hotter than all the men of Coat West put together. But clearly I exaggerate, right? Well let me put it this way -- I just rewatched that performance for probably the tenth or twelfth time this evening so I knew exactly what to expect, and I would be disappearing to go take a cold shower if the power hadn't just gone out. *scared of the dark* Don't judge me. >.> Also, Nika and I had a conversation that basically amounted to the following:
xxlithiumflower I need to watch this again. IN SLOW MOTION.
nica1287 THEN YOU LOSE THE MUSIC.
xxlithiumflower THERE WAS MUSIC?
nica1287 It was the soundtrack to the orgy.
[a little while later]
xxlithiumflower *watching it for the fourth time* Hay. Kitayama has a nice voice.
nica1287 ...Kitayama sings?
Then pretty much every Junior group they had handy came out and sang Vanilla ~Burn it up!~ which was kinda great because it had random instances of crack like TotsuxArioka, KawaixInoo, KitayamaxKamei, and Fujigaya on Takaki's back. *jealous* Also Shoon waving at the camera to make sure the fangirls don't forget him, and Taiyo kinda crouching down to be the same height as everyone else. Cutecute. ♥
So that ended up being more of an in-depth overview (with far less flailing than I'd have expected) than the summary I intended it to be. I'd almost joke that one could read this instead of watching the episode but NO. YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS EPISODE. ESPECIALLY FIRE BEAT. YOU MUST WATCH IT. REPEATEDLY.
mousapelli was amazing enough to rip the video and an mp3, everyone go tell her how awesome she is
here.
In conclusion, AHAHA I AM KILLING MY REMAINING HARDDRIVE SPACE BY DOWNLOADING THE INDIVIDUAL SONG PERFORMANCES. *headdesk*
So I'm thinking Kis-my-ft.2 should just change their group name to 'Kisumai' and debut already...
