Okay, I wrote Hey!Say!-centric fanfiction too. *headdesk* I'm sorry?
Oddly enough, Hey!Say!7 spend the entire fic on the other side of the room, and the pairings are ABCxeveryone and TomaPi. (In a funny way, I promise. It wasn't supposed to be TomaPi, but I couldn't resist.)
ETA: Just thought I should point out that I absolutely adore little Yuuri-chan, all of Hey!Say!, of course, and I actually find it hilarious that a group of chibis got a single and video before the actual Junior leaders. *doesn't want to be misunderstood*
Oh, watch for Akihabara@DEEP and Hana Yori Dango Returns! references.

Creative Occupational Advancement Opportunities
Although the Jimusho's largest practice room was, as usual, filled with as many little Juniors as the room could hold (to say nothing of Nakamaru and Tanaka, who were filming a new Jr.niQ segment that seemed to focus heavily on the elder Morimoto, though that was nothing unusual), a small cluster of older Juniors, not dancing but instead observing rather critically, had gathered in a tight knot by the entranceway.
"They're good kids, though," reasoned Toshin, tracing his companions' line of vision across the room to a small group of Juniors, four small and cute, one taller and closer to maturely handsome, who seemed to be practicing a different dance than all the others.
"I know they're good kids," sighed Hasegawa Jun, "nobody's saying they're not. But come on, there's just something about it that's not right, y'know?"
"He's got a point," Kazama agreed grudgingly, biting his lip before he could get any further than, "they're just..."
"Young?" Toma supplied readily. "Or do you mean, supposed to be in line behind us?"
Kazama shrugged awkwardly. "It just... I mean..." He stomped his foot, and Toma jumped. "A single and a video before they've even debuted? Who died and made them the next KAT-TUN?"
"What if they do debut?" Toshin murmured, almost to himself.
"Well," Jun reasoned, "Takaki and Arioka have been with J.J. Express for quite a while, ne? So they've kind of earned it, doncha think? And look how popular Yamada and Yuto are. Either one of them has more fangirls than the lot of us put together."
"Unfair!" exclaimed Toma. "Do you know how many fangirls I lost thanks to Junpei?"
"Even so," Jun sighed, rolling his eyes. "I think the point still stands."
Kazama cleared his throat. "So then the real issue is..."
Everyone's eyes landed on the littlest member of the observed group.
"Chinen."
The four boys exchanged quick, startled looks, and the back peddling began immediately.
"He's a good kid--"
"Such a sweet little thing--"
"It's not like I don't like him or anything--"
"It's just that--"
Toshin waved his arms around frantically, calling them to quick order. "I think the bottom line is pretty simple," he declared. "How long have we all been rattling around here?"
"So long!" the remaining three Tops chorused mournfully.
"And he's been here..."
"Not so long," Jun concluded dejectedly.
Kazama sighed. "Nothing against him, of course, but it just doesn't stack up."
"Got that right, Page-san," Toma agreed, scuffing the toe of his shoe against the tiled floor in frustration. "I mean, God, who do you have to sleep with around here to get a debut?"
A.B.C. had been gathering up their things along the back wall in order to make an early but sanctioned escape to a photo shoot, and took this moment to file past the group and out the door. As he passed, Kawai paused to pat Toma's shoulder consolingly.
"That, Toma-senpai, is the question for the ages," he agreed brightly, "but we've been working on it, and I promise the second we find out, we'll tell you, how's that sound?"
"At the rate we're going, we should have an answer by the end of the month," Totsu added with a grin.
Before Toma could so much as open his mouth, Jun piped up. "I'll save you some time," he offered. "It's not Yamashita-senpai, it can't be, there's no way Toma'd still be hanging around with us Junior shmoes."
Toma flailed with indignation. "Hasegawa, do you really want so badly to find out first-hand how hard it is to debut when you're dead?"
