Note: I wrote this after watching the first episode of Canadian Idol this week -- that is to say, the boys' performances.
Here are my personal top three favourite Idols, my thoughts on them, some random funny stuff about the show, whatever. Me rambling, essentially. If you're reading this, you should be used to that kind of thing.
Idol #3: Pale Boy
His name's actually Jaydee Bixby or something, but Mom finds it really funny that I call him Pale Boy, so Pale Boy I shall call him. Is his name not just the cutest? Well, it's a good intro to him. I once referred to him as "the one Hitler would really like", which earned me really weird looks, but as soon as he came onscreen, all was clear. Pale Boy has white-blond hair, light blue eyes, and skin the colour of cream. He's bright-eyed, sweet, naive, darling, funny, cute, he plays guitar, and he sounds like freakin' Elvis. He's so much fun to watch, and quite a decent singer. I keep thinking that I want to kidnap him and bake him chocolate chip cookies. ^.^
He should sing: Johnny Cash, but subdued Johnny Cash. Calmer stuff. Definately not Folsom Prison Blues, 'cause that song still reminds me of Sexy Rexy. Ring of Fire, or something. I dunno. Maybe some Jim Croce. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown. ^.^
Idol #2: Rocker Dude
I have no idea what his name is -- something Millendore, or something -- but he's unmistakable. He has shaggy dirty-blond hair and always wears sunglasses like cops usually wear. Plays guitar, too. I didn't really like him at first, but he's really grown on me. I like his reaction to judges' comments. I mean, when a judge compliments an Idol, they'll usually say something like "thank you" or "that means so much to me". Sass complimented him, and what did he reply? "Yayuh." *dies*
He should sing: Bob Dylan. Greg says Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35 (better known as Everybody Must Get Stoned; I'm the only one who calls that song by its proper name), but I'd rather he do The Times They Are A-Changin' (my favourite Dylan song), or Subterranean Homesick Blues (my other favourite Dylan song). He could also do well with Stuck in the Middle With You, from Reservoir Dogs.
And finally...
Idol #1: Liam Styles Chang
The only one I'll call by his proper name. When he walked into his audition, Adam and I lost it laughing over his hair, which is a typical emo haircut taken to the extreme. We called him Emo Hair Guy. (When I found out his full name later, he became The Chinese Guy.) Then I heard him sing, and he became my instant choice for Idol. Oh, and when he went onstage this week, I lost it over his hair again. His lovely black hair in its godawful style had gained two white streaks, and all I could think of was GYM-era Yamapi. God, that boy needs a haircut. ^.^;;;
He should sing: to me.
I asked Mom who her favourite was, and she said she couldn't decide... because nobody was enough like Kalan for her liking. I mused on it for a moment and said, "Well, if Rocker Dude and Pale Boy had a baby..."
She kind of stared at me for a second, and then said, "Y'know, you're right."
I'm not sure I like that, though.
I'd rather ship Rocker Dude with Liam.
