Thanks for the comments on my previous post! Here's 2 more photos~ Pardon the blotchy thing on the right in the first photo, the cloud was acting weirdly.

The weather at Cal is really nice (as far as I remember, anyway) and if you like some photos I have them at my USA trip album (though you probably saw it already). Have a great time okay! :D

Which dorm are you staying in? Triple or double or?

And about the article - I really wish I could throw myself into that whole argument but there's this little part of me that pulls back and says, 'hey, that's not right'. Which probably means I'm already gravitating to the first example.

That's because in order to have that dream and keep your life so free and stuff, you have to be really really selfish. Not having a stable income (which the second example seems to suggest) and not having that financial stability (because who can deny that money is what makes most of the stuff in your life happen anyway?) is going to be a big problem when it comes to caring for your family, your siblings, your kids, your relatives - I think I owe my parents at least that.

Maybe when I'm older I'll follow plan B... But for now I'm going to be pragmatic and work my ass off for money so that my parents don't regret doing the same for me :P Seriously though, the 'alternative lifestyle' as suggested by the other plan is too idealistic, it makes me cringe. >< I recognise though, that it may be written like this for a poetic effect of some sort.

ANYWAY. Go to Union Square for shopping! And then walk (it's quite near) to the Cable Car boarding point and take it all the way to Fisherman's Wharf. The ride is really cool, like a roller coaster lol. Then you can stroll along by the sea... Can't really remember what else we did there though.

Unit 2 double. No idea who my roommate will be though. On another note, Michelle emailed me to say that Zeena may be going for summer school too and she asked whether she could give her my email but Zeena hasn't got back to me yet. Hmm.

Yea, it's true that money is important and we have to be pragmatic about family finances and securing opportunities for our future children (if any!) I think the article just wanted to open up people's minds to alternative suggestions though. Not a completely alternative lifestyle per se but to dare to do something that deviates from the ideal Singaporean perception of a good job and a good life; that not everyone has to work in the medical/law/finance industries to succeed, we can open ourselves to possibilities and have other equally satisfying forms of work out of the 9-5 norm.

The cable car and the tram are different things right? I'll have quite a few weekends to explore the area so I'm really looking forward to it, plus there's Pride Weekend and the 4th of July too :) Thanks so much for the suggestions!

My US penpal is going to Berkeley too (Letters and Science) so maybe you'll meet her when you're there! She's a transfer student though haha.
