Manly women?

Aug 11, 2010 14:08

NOTE: I decided to post this earlier, today, not Sunday, just because I had a lot of time, and not work at all. Btw, English is NOT my first language.

Today, something happened that made me think about what women like, how they dress, how they act, and men's opinion about it.
I was talking to my male friend today about going out this night. He asked me to join him and his company for a late night walk and I said I couldn't go. He was curious why I declined the invite. I told him I am staying home with my dad to watch a football match between Greece and Serbia's national team. His reaction on it was:"WHAT??? You watch football?" I could imagine his face in that moment...
That made me think of this question which is asked all the time:"What do men expect from us?" To be gentle, girly girls who like pink color, butterlies and despise football?
It's true, there are that kind of women, but can't they understand we're not all the same?
Or regardless of the fact that they know we are not all the same - I ask this question again - what do they expect from us?
Do they prefer us to be girly girl or do they want us to be ourselves?
I still stay sticked to my favorite phrase:"Be yourself!" Like whatever you want, do whatever pleases you to, no matter if others don't like it.
Or there's some other kind of problem with men when women watch football? Are they afraid that we can lower the value of football by just watching because they think of it as "men stuff only"? Or are they afraid that we don't understand it enough to be honoured to watch it?
Maybe that is the mistery we will never find out about them.
Despite the fact that my friend reacted badly to the sentense I often used in past few months:"I am staying home to watch a football match", I am still watching tonight's game and cheering for my team!!!
Go Krasic! =)
