The adrenaline was still coursing through his veins as his eyes wildly looked over everyone that had gathered inside the main room of the underground military bunker. Before he knew what he was saying, he realised he was barking orders to the soldiers standing around him. They were looking at him. Their leader. The person who was supposed to have all the answers.
The room rocked for what seemed like the fiftieth time that night. Dust and debris fell down from the ceiling that had cracked under the pressure of the multiple hits. Reece hoped it would last under the weight of what seemed like unending explosions and the huddle of screaming survivors.
The last order was called to his men and Reece then started to move toward the crowd--scientists, minor soldiers, some civilians. He needed to calm the people, stop them screaming. "You need to be quiet, yeah? Just... just calm down," he tried to call out over the noise but it seemed futile.
He swallowed hard before running a hand back through the sandy brown hair that fell idly over his eyes. He tried to remember what had happened. One minute he was defending the animal labs with his squad and the next... it seemed like hell itself was raining down over them. He knew had to calm himself down though. These people needed him...
