The years pass and still no word. Not a sign or a rumor. Perhaps he is dead at sea, killed by those plundering idiots that call themselves great and powerful. Yet, being at a port that is simply overpowered by their presence, I cannot help but come across one every moment of my damned life ( Read more... )

Such harsh opinions about pirates...there are two sides to every story, my dear. -Frowns slightly though still appearing calm- You only know of one. I suggest you try and learn the other, for your benefit, before making any generalized judgments.

And one does not have to be a pirate to take advantage of your...assets, as I'm sure you well know already. Sadly, it is the lot of women to be subjected to such treatment.

[...I need to find my way to the Atlantic soon so that you can stow away on my ship... xD;]

I know of only one story, but if what you say is true, that I only know part of the whole tale, then tell me m'lady. Tell me why I shouldn't hate all of you as much as I hate the ones who destroyed my life? What good could you possibly bring into a world such as my own?

And sadly what you say about men taking advantage of what lies before them is true. What has our world truly become?

I will not deny that what you say is true. Words cannot sweeten what I have seen. Destruction of lives, I have seen far too much of, have even caused it with my own hands. But what sort of life would be awaiting me had I not chosen this path? Tell me that. -Still calm, but with a strained anger-

What has our truly world become, you ask? Tch, my world has been nothing but since the day I was born; women seen as nothing more than property, expected to be silent and obedient like the slaves they were groomed to be. I'd rather die a pirate than return to such a life.

And you feel that you can't change the world, even though you claim you have once been stepped upon and used because of your gender? Have you ever thought of perhaps changing the world's view on pirates by maybe...becoming good? *thinks too much in Robin Hood terms*

What makes you believe that I have not been trying? It's not as simple as that. Changing the world cannot be done in one day, even in the service of piracy, and especially for a woman in the profession. I have to abide by certain codes and rules as well, otherwise I would be joining my father's corpse at the bottom of the ocean. I cannot possibly attempt to change things from there, now can I?

As loyal as my men are to me, they would sooner cast me out to the British Navy dogs than willingly give up their share of the treasure we find.

You call that loyalty? Certainly the pirate's life is corrupt, and not something I would ever find myself venturing into. *mumbles to herself* Unless it were to find him...

It is the sort of loyal that I have come to expect from my crew, save for a select few. A very select few, indeed.

-Catches her mutterings and quirks a curious brow- Him?...

So you're saying that there is a certain degree of trust that even a person such as myself could understand?

And I prefer to stay away from talking about matters of my personal life with strangers.

I had no intention to pry into your personal life, my dear, so there is no need to get upset over it. Your mutterings simply peaked my interest, that's all. You cannot blame me for being curious, can you?

As for the issue of trust...it is difficult subject matter of its own accord. To know for certain who you can and cannot trust in this world would be a gift not many would place claim on. You can know a person for your entire life and still be suspicious of their actions, particularly in the pirate profession when double-dealings and backstabbing is commonplace.

We as humans, are naturally self-serving. That much, I trust you to understand.
