The Walk
I cannot bear this anymore...
These cares, worn my soul thin.
I tread this path so lightly
so hollow yet within...
The fallen leaves crush under foot
my heart lies crushed as well...
the winter wind whips round my form
isolated in this frozen hell...
The voice of hope comes softer now.
Its promises seem vain...
The light is close to breaking...
I'm breaking in this pain...
How long until I snap in two?
How long til naught is left?
When tomorrow seems so far
and this ache constricts my chest...
I walk on yet, something remains,
but the thread is wearing so...
My love alone cannot give strength
when so far is left to go.
I see the end, it looms ahead...
my dreams are nearly mine...
I stumble, fall, and lose my breath,
and snap this earthly twine.
