And here it is. It took me like, 20 minutes.
Courage and Honor;
Great Traits Possessed by an Even Greater Man
Courage and honor are both great characteristics to have. Audie Murphy was a
man who let these two traits shine. He may not be a popular musician, or some
Hollywood star. He also never went on to high school, or even college. He would be
labeled as a "hick" by many, and while this may be true, don't let the label confuse
you. Audie Murphy was a World War II Hero. The most decorated of them all, in fact.
In short, he singlehandedly saved his platoon and defeated multiple German
platoons, all at the risk of his life. In his Medal of Honor Citation, he jumped on top of a
burning tank destroyer, used its .50 caliber machine gun and wiped out waves and waves
of men, until its ammo was exhausted. He then launched a counterattack on the Germans
afterwards, and secured the forest the Germans fought so hard to defend. In my eyes, this
is an amazing feat.
These traits are upheld by many figures, and sure, I honor them. But to do
something as amazing as this is "going above and beyond the call of duty". I would go as
far to say that he impacted my life the moment I learned about him. Sure, I may have said
things like, "Man, is Master Chief cool!" or "Frodo's adventure is amazing! I can't
imagine anyone doing that!". But it really did happen, and he is cool. He's done things
that a video game or book can only dream of making come true to the player or reader.
Now, when I think of any hardship or difficulty in my life, I think of Audie. He
who had a rough childhood, hard-working teen years, and an exciting adulthood, has
inspired me to push when I'm down or when it's hard. Maybe one day, I'll have some
amazing feat, one that can only be minutely compared to his. This is why Audie Murphy
has had such an impact on my life.
And no, this isn't my actual paper, LJ just can't make it look right. El-Gay.
