My dad always said, trust your government stephanie, just ask questions...

I was in Practical Law class today (everytime I go to that class I feel like I wanna be an attorney) and we were discussing the government infringing upon our rights. I hate the government and I think it's run by a bunch of ignorant assholes. I know a lot has changed in this country over the last 5 years with 9/11 and the war on terror and the department of Homeland Security. But sometimes I wonder if this country is heading the right direction and whether or not we're being fucked up the tailpipe and not doing anything about it. I'm in no way a political child, I like politics. They keep me entertained and make me think about where I stand on certain issues and topics that not only concern me but the citizens who will come after me.
So most people if not all know what the Patriot Act is. I'm going to tell you a funny story. The sad part is, it's not really funny. It's actually an example of our country raping us and us not doing anything about it. So here we go. I was in Law class and this boy who I've known for several years started telling us that back in November the FBI came and knocked on his door. For the past 2 or 3 weeks he had been emailing a friend about the current situation in Iraq and said that our president was a dickhole. Because of this statement he was viewed as high risk to national security. He asked what was to happen to him and the Feds said they were going to be watching and monitoring his email. (well hate to say it but they were in the first place or this incident never would have arisen. at lest now they're telling him. How nice right?) The boy told him that they were infringing upon his first amendment rights such as freedom of speech and the right to privacy. Now heres the said part, the Feds told him that with the Patriot Act they can do whatever they want. Said part is, they're right. So not only are our emails, phone conversations, and basic liberties of life being taken away and tapped into, there is nothing we can do about it.
I don't know about everyone else but having another terrorist attack doesn't frighten me as much as the fact of my own government spying on me. A U.S. citizen and my government doesn't even trust me. That's amazing right there. As said in the movie V for Vendetta, People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people. It sickens me to think that the very people that I will put into office (and I say I will because I cannot legally vote at this time) are taking my tax dollars and valuable precious time that could be spent on various other important things to help make this country and wasting them on monitoring my life.
So yes in conclusion I think this country is being led by incompetent dumbasses who are more worried about making and easy quick dollar than actually protecting its people.
The worst part of if all is, we the people of the United State are going to do nothing about it. Because in this country you can be bought to vote for whoever. Well I guess its not much of a problem when most people are looking to earn money vs. actually doing what is right.
