I'm wishing all of you a Happy Three Kings' Day. In Puerto Rico, we celebrate this festivity every January 6th. We pick grass from our backyards, patios, or other green places on January 5 and offer it to the Three Kings of Orient at night as a gesture of gratitude for having gifted Baby Jesus with other precious gifts. It's another time of the year in which we get to spend additional time around family and friends. Plus, you get to receive more Christmas presents during this day. Yes, people are gifted twice during Christmas season in Puerto Rico. The first round starts on December 25. Then, the second round of receiving gifts takes place on January 6. Once this celebration ends, "las octavitas" (eight days after the Three Kings' Day celebration) take place to finalize the Christmas season on January 14. Even if this Christmas tradition might be unknown to you, I still wish you an amazing Three Kings' Day and much enjoyable "octavitas."
