CHAPTER TWO
“Aren't you going home?” Asked Minho as he saw Taemin was putting all his stuff in the locker. Taemin shook his head and then turned to Minho as he slammed his locker shut.
“I always train after school, dancing.” Minho remembered that they had talked about dancing the previous night.
“Can I perhaps join you? I want to learn how to dance.” Taemin just nodded as a reply and walked towards the locker rooms. They entered and Taemin walked over to his locker and opened it.
“I don't have anything to train in,” said Minho and looked sadly at Taemin.
“I might have something there will fit you. One time my dad gave me a set there was too big and I kept it.” Minho's face lit up and he almost wanted to clap his hands together but he didn't. Taemin soon handed him a tank top and a pair of sweat pants. Minho just stared at Taemin as he started to undress in front of him. He couldn't keep his eyes away from Taemin's body. When Taemin threw of his pants and shirt Minho almost got a nosebleed. Taemin's body was so small but it was still toned the right places. His abs weren't too defined but they were definitely there and his skin was milky white and just perfect. He quickly looked away as Taemin turned to stare at him. Minho quickly got rid of his pants and shirt too. He didn't look at Taemin and there for he didn't see Taemin checking him out and blushing a bit too. Minho had very defined abs and arms and his skin was slightly tanned. When they were finished changing they walked into a small studio with mirrors at the far end wall and no one said anything.
“Do you know any dance moves or do you want me to show you something?” Taemin asked as he looked at Minho.
“Show me something easy and then you can see how good or bad I am,” answered Minho with a smile and winked at Taemin. Taemin once again rolled his eyes and walked over to the sound system. He plugged in a CD and pressed play. The music started and Taemin showed Minho some dance moves and Minho tried to copy them as good as he could. It went pretty good in Minho's eyes and he didn't think he messed up too much. Taemin complimented him and then he told Minho they should try something a little harder. Two hours flew by and then Taemin said it was good enough for today. They were both sweating from the workout and they both needed a shower. They undressed and tried not to look at each other, they entered the showers and showered in silence. They quickly got dressed and went out of the school together.
“Where do you live?” Minho asked even though he already knew it.
“Right next to he library where we went last night. What about you?”
“About 5 minutes walk south from the library.” Taemin smiled and walked over to the bus stop then he turned towards Minho.
“Are you coming?” Minho walked up next to Taemin and he almost blushed. He was a bit embarrassed about the fact that he didn't know how to ride a bus. Taemin could sense that something was bothering Minho but he was afraid to ask.
“I have never ridden on a bus before,” admitted Minho finally and looked down at the ground. Taemin almost laughed but he saw how uncomfortable Minho was about it that he stopped himself form actually laughing.
“I can show you how,” said Taemin. Minho was glad that Taemin wasn't asking questions about why he had never ridden on a bus before today. They stood in silence until the bus came and then Taemin showed him how it was done. Minho didn't think it was that hard, he and Taemin had a good laugh about the whole ordeal. The bus ride was pleasant and they both got off at the library. They said their goodbyes and parted with the promise to ride the bus to school together the next morning. Minho couldn't help but be extremely happy about the whole thing. He entered his apartment but felt a bit lonely when the whole place was completely silent. Suddenly a thought popped into his head. He hadn't got himself a cell phone yet. He quickly grabbed his keys and left the apartment again. He went to a shop nearby and bought a phone and a SIM card for it. Now all he needed was to figure out how it worked and ask for Taemin's number the next day. Minho couldn't wait for the next day. He quickly finished his homework and started to play around with his phone and computer he had found when he looked for something to wash himself with. The rest of the day went by like that. Minho only took a break when he needed to cook himself dinner. He took a quick shower before he went to bed.
The next morning Minho stood and waited for Taemin at the bus stop. He kept looking around for Taemin and by every passing minute he began to get more and more anxious. Suddenly he felt Taemin nearby and he felt himself relax again. Taemin walked up next to him and said a gentle good morning. Minho replied with a ‘morning. He still needed to figure out how to ask for Taemin’s number because he had no idea how to do it.
“I got a new cell phone yesterday and I'm not really sure how it works because I have never owned this brand before.” Taemin looked at Minho and smiled.
“Let me show you how to add a contact and then you can try to text me.” Said Taemin and took the cell phone out if Minho's hands. Minho just smirked and watched everything Taemin did. He thought it was a bit strange but he tried to remember everything Taemin taught him. Then Taemin showed him how to send a text and then he handed the phone back and told Minho to try and text him. It took some time but finally he managed to get a text send. Taemin quickly replied and Minho got really excited. The bus came and the bus ride to the school went with Minho and Taemin texting each other.
They entered the school together and once again people were staring at them but Minho tried not to make anything of it. Taemin felt a little uncomfortable under all the stares but he tried to be brave like Minho and not let them get to him. No one said anything outside or inside the school. Everyone was just staring at them or whispering behind their backs. Minho followed Taemin to his locker and just leaned against them. He glared at the people around them who were looking but when his eyes fell on Taemin his face softened. Taemin gave him a small smile as he grabbed his stuff and they began to walk to Minho's locker. Minho quickly took his things and they walked to their first class. When they entered the room Siwon just glared at them.
“Cough-fags-cough,” said Siwon as Minho followed Taemin to the back of the class. Minho just glared at him but said nothing. The class soon began and Minho started to scribble something on a piece of paper. He pushed it over the table so it was touching Taemin's hand. Taemin looked at him but Minho just looked away, Taemin moved his gaze to the paper and picked it up. He unfolded it and read the quick note on it.
'Wanna dance together again today?’ Taemin smiled and wrote a quick yes and asked Minho if he needed to borrow some clothes today but Minho just shook his head and smirked.
Lunch time was just around the corner and today Minho had brought his own food and he hoped to get Taemin to taste it. The bell rang and they walked together to the same tree they sat at yesterday. Taemin took out his food and opened it. Today it was filled with delicious looking noodles and chicken. Minho opened his own lunch and flinched a little. His food almost looked uneatable. Taemin tried to stifle his giggling behind his hand but he failed miserable.
“We can share my food again if you want to,” said Taemin and moved his lunch towards Minho.
“Thanks, I just suck at making food. Not very practical when you live alone.” Minho smiled and took a piece of the food with his own chopsticks. Taemin tilted his head and stared at Minho.
“I didn’t tell you? I live alone in an apartment.” Taemin wanted to ask so many questions but he didn’t know how to ask without seeming rude or insensitive. Minho saw the look in Taemin’s eyes and he just smiled.
“Let’s talk about something else while we eat and then perhaps we can talk about it some other time.” Taemin nodded and picked up his own chopsticks and they began eating. Suddenly Taemin’s phone rang and he looked at the display. Taemin sighed before he answered the phone. Taemin sat there listening to the other person speak for what seemed like hours.
“I will go pick her up,” sighed Taemin as he once again listened to the other person speak. “No don’t leave work dad, I will take care of it.” Taemin hung up and sighed again.
“I have to go, you can keep the lunch.” Minho just stared at Taemin as he packed his things and got up.
“Let me go with you,” Minho said as he stood up and looked Taemin in the eyes. Taemin didn’t have the energy to complain and just let him join him. They walked to their lockers and grabbed the stuff they needed and walked out of school.
“Where are we going?” Minho asked as he walked beside Taemin. Taemin debated inside himself if he should tell Minho about his sister. He had never told anyone about his family before but no one had never seemed to care anyway. Minho was the first person to show real interest in him and he didn’t want to ruin what they had built so far.
“I don’t want to talk about it today and please don’t ask any questions when we get there.” Minho could understand how Taemin felt and just nodded as a respond. They walked together in silence and it didn’t take them long before Taemin stopped before a big building. Minho read the name on the sign ‘Police Station’. He suddenly remembered what it was from one of his many books. He turned to look at Taemin who didn’t look back at him. Taemin walked up the stairs and entered the building. An officer said hallo to Taemin and it confused Minho and he really wanted to ask what it meant but he had promised Taemin he wouldn’t ask questions.
The officer pointed at the end of the room and Taemin started walking after he said a quick thank you. Minho saw the officer look after Taemin with sadness in his eyes and it confused Minho even more. Minho followed Taemin in silence and when they came to a stop before a table Minho saw a young lady being escorted by another officer. Minho could see the similarities between the lady and Taemin. Minho figured she was his big sister and they were there to pick her up for some reason. Taemin said a small thank you to the officer and gently grabbed his sister’s arm. He guided her out of the building with Minho following them.
“Why can’t you stay out of trouble?” Mumbled Taemin as he started to walk away. Minho felt awkward walking behind them without knowing what was happening.
“No one asked you to come,” said his sister and then she turned to look at Minho. She gave him a flirting smile as she tried to walk in a straight line, only managing not to fall because Taemin was supporting her. Minho just smiled nervously back.
“Who’s the hottie behind us?” Her voice was sloppy and Minho could smell something odd coming from her mouth. He had heard from one of the other angels that humans sometimes liked to drink something called alcohol and that it smelled funny.
“Leave him alone, he’s a friend of mine and you just need to think about getting home.” She laughed at her brother and almost fell over her own feet. Minho didn’t say anything the rest of the walk. Taemin’s sister tried to get his attention and get him to talk but Minho wouldn’t have any of it and just let her be. Taemin guided them to a shadier looking neighborhood and Minho felt a little out of place there. Taemin stopped in front of an old looking warehouse and let his sister go. She fell up against the wall and just winked at Minho.
“Go to bed sister,” said Taemin as he walked away and grabbed Minho’s arm when he passed him. Taemin looked down in embarrassment and he couldn’t get himself to look at Minho.
“It’s okay Taemin, I’m not going to judge you or anything. It’s not like you two are the same.” Minho tried to sound optimistic and make Taemin feel better. Taemin looked at him for the first time since their walk to the police station.
“Thanks.” It was the only word Taemin could utter at the moment. He felt so week at the moment and he feared that Minho would realize how broken him and his family really was and take off.
“Do you want to skip the rest of the day and spend it at my place?” Minho tried not to sound too hopeful and desperate. Taemin thought it over before he answered.
“Yeah, that could be nice.” Minho smirked and he suddenly got the urge to hug Taemin tight and tell him everything was going to be alright but he suppressed the need, for now.
