ahh the lesbian world can be so small at times, can't it? indeed, i just moved back to the area where my ex lives so that is why i decided i probably should get together with her. less awkward to see her when it's planned than a random meeting in a bar... heh.

are you talking about my comic? i assume so...
well, it's hard to say. i am a buddhist and i've really contemplated making this comic buddhist themed, i eventually decided against it (mostly). religion will be mostly left out of it (aside from the concept of reincarnation and voodoo). while you will have some knowledge of lana's(that's the main character) past, you will not really know what it is that has caused her misfortune in this life. because that is reality. the buddha advised against anything that causes suffering and mulling over questions you will never have answers to falls under that category. (and this is really what lana is doing in the first page, being all 'woe-is-me') but it is also reality that by having such a hard life this time around, she will work through some of her negative karma so that she can finally start receiving benefits from her positive karma. and... i don't want to give too much away here... but i think she will. :)

she also has received many benefits, although she doesn't know it. her full name is svetlana and she was actually born in russia. brought here by immigrants who were later deported. rather than take her back to russia, they put her into the "system" hoping to give her a better life. things didn't exactly work out the way that they planned, but regardless, her life has made her a very strong and independent woman. in addition to putting her into a country where she just might encounter her soulmate... :)

i should also mention that the very concept of fate is really anti-buddhist. buddhism teaches that our life is changed by each of our actions that we make day after day, not only in our past lives. so why did i make a comic titled "fate's bitch"? haha, well, just because i don't believe in it doesn't mean that others' don't... i guess in my own way i want to make a statement about fate.

i don't think i really answered your question, haha... oh well, that's all i've got. :)
