((ooc- PMed Kurosaki for this post. All of Kurosaki’s movement were either decided on or approved of by Kuro’s typist.))

Finals were over and the intense level of stress that lingered over the campus had subsided. In the wake of the unwinding, Kazuya had an idea for the Naka Baka paper that he wanted published before winter break was upon them. At ( Read more... )

It was Sunday and Okita found it was a good time to go for groceries to stock up on the certain space on the fridge that belonged to her and the twins in the shared apartment. Holding two bags it contained many types of food such as rice, fresh vegetables such as eggplants, potatoes, fruits, dairy and juices. The bags were heavy, but Okita was use to holding even heavier weight--over a 100 pounds.

It was midday and she had finished her grocery shopping faster than expected. She had left the girls with the sitter because she felt that if she brought them along it would make the shopping a little harder since they will crave sweets or add foods that weren't on Okita's strict grocery list.

As she was thinking of her sisters' sweet tooth she came across a pastry shop. Stopping she looked through the window and saw the colorful and tasty treats along with the aroma that seem to seduce her. She smiled, barely anyone can resist sweets and tried to find an excuse to go inside and buy one. She thought of her excuse quick. Finals have ended. She studied hard and even though she may have failed French, she knew she did well in the other subjects. The twins also deserved a break and she knew something small and sweet was acceptable now and again.

Walking inside the shop with her bags she saw there was line, at the end was a brunette so she stood behind him as she thought about what would be a good pastry to get for her and her two sisters.

Kurosaki was hopping up and down on one foot, failing his arms excitedly. He was happy to share his love for sweets with Kazuo and had been happily surprised when Kazuo got back in line. This was turning out to be a better trip than he had anticipated.

He was in the middle of his happy dance when Okita came in. He merely glanced her way, but then turned towards her once familiarity set in. "Oki-chan!!" he squealed. "You like sweets too?!"

As Okita was thinking of possibly a small cake she heard a familiar voice call her. She saw it was Kurosaki, remembering him from the time they had a project together. She wrinkled her name at the nickname he called her only used to hearing her sisters call her that.

She put her heavy bags down on each side. "Hai," Pushing her fringe away from her face she gave a small smile. "I'm here for my baby sisters too."

Kazuo had both hands placed on the glass as he stared intently on the objects that were on the other side. There were so many to choose from and so many to try. His attention was only interrupted when he became aware that Kurosaki was talking to someone. He turned his head, curious on who Kuro would make small talk with. His eyes fell on Okita for a moment in time to catch her last phrase. He was reminded of Kazuya at the mention of siblings, and suddenly Kazuo's thoughts turned to whether he should be getting his twin some sweets too. Would he have the money for both....? He could always just -take- them...

"Do you got sweets in there!" Kurosaki nearly yelled, pointing at her bags.

Okita gave an amused smile as she brought her attention to one of the heavy bags before looking at Kurosaki. She shook her head letting out a small chuckle. "No, just groceries."

"Oh," Kurosaki replied abruptedly. He pinched his lips together, still staring at the bags. The thought of someone his age buying groceries was new to him. "Where's your parents?" he asked, the thought of possibly offending her non-existant.

Okita was surprised by Kurosaki's question and how blunt he was about it. Her face expression turned quickly from amused to anguish in a matter of seconds. The shock quickly wore off as she spoke in a shaken tone. "M-my mom is working."

"Why do you ask?" It was unsure if her tone sounded like if she was offended or suspicious. Many thoughts raced through Okita's mind, why would someone just ask a question like that? She did not seem to connect the two topics so it made her be on her guard.

"Because you bought grown-up things." Kurosaki lifted his hand up and pointed to her groceries, tilted his head, not understanding why she didn't understand.

Kazuo had been trying to formulate a plan of how to take the treats for his brother without paying for them when he tuned back into Kurosaki's conversation. He looked at Okita's bags, and then back at Kurosaki, brows furrowed. "Kurosaki, you do not make any sense sometimes. Groceries are not 'grown-up' things. They are necessities." His words were more to himself than to Kurosaki, as he figured the boy probably wasn't listening to him anyways. He didn't understand how Miyavi put up with Kurosaki's naitivity sometimes.

Okita let out a nervous chuckle as she rubbed the back of her neck. She was ready to explain why she was doing groceries when she turned her attention to the boy with long brunette hair. He looked very familiar although she was not sure where she had seen him and it was hard to pinpoint at the moment. She nodded in agreement before turning to Kurosaki.

"Also, my mother does not have time." She gave a small forced smile hoping the subject would change. It made her uncomfortable speaking about someone who had been missing for so long and unsure if she would ever return.

"Hmm," Kuro considered these new scenarios. "Well...how do you know what to get? The stuff I always pick out when I go shopping with my mom is never chosen because it's 'not appropriate for dinner'" he said in a mock, authoritive voice.

Okita let out a small chuckle. She couldn't help it, his attitude reminded her of how her sisters would act. "I guess I just pick everything that little kids hate." She gave a small smile before shaking her head to show that she was joking. "I have very picky sisters, so it is not easy but after a while you get use to it." Looking up at the clock on the wall, she crossed her arms.

"Not entirely," Kazuo responded pointing to the candy behind the counter. "Kazuya is waiting for us, Kurosaki. We need to get going."

Kurosaki whined. "But I was talking with my friend Oki-chan!" He pointed to Okita, his bottom lip protruding farther than the top in a classic pout.

Turning her attention back to Kurosaki she gave a small smile. Being a bit of a loner, it was strange when someone actually wanted to stay and have a conversation with her, aside from Amanda.

"It's okay," She said trying to be reassuring. "I have to get running too. I was just going to pass by quickly to get some sweets for the twins."
