Spamming you guys with my cooks. We rotate our food between Asian and European/American every other week or so. I enjoy asian cooking in particular for it's simplicity but diversity in flavor and ingredients. We are also lucky and live in a predominantly Asian area of Southern California and so there is no shortage of Asian grocers or eateries ( Read more... )

http://makemysushi.com/ is the site we used to start but bounced around the web to find different recipes for the rice etc C:. It's a lot easier than you think..I'd say the hardest part is finding good ingredients. We didn't have the greatest luck with the tuna but the salmon was nom!

Oooofdsrew

I might just have to play around with making my own sushi. Those look delicious, and there are literally no good sushi places in the city I just moved to.

If you have a 99 Ranch anywhere near you, they carry sushi grade fish and other sushi fixings. It's not with the other meats/fishes but usually separated into it's own fridge. I highly recommend trying and you can start with a cheap sushi rolling mat before getting a better one (I got a 1$ mat and it works just fine =D!)

They all look AMAZING! I've never made Beef Gyudon - do you have a recipe somewhere that you recommend?

It's super simple. I didn't have mirin so found a non-mirin recipe and it tastes great! I used this recipe: http://www.littlejapanmama.com/2011/11/yoshinoya-gyudon-recipe-beef.html but now that I have mirin will try a mirin based one =D. Very simple dish. If you can't get thinly sliced meat where you live you can slice it thin yourself by half freezing your meat and slicing it thin then.
