Insiration and Distraction

Okay so I've had several emails asking me where I get my ideas from ((for art and writing)) All I can really say is that everything I create comes from either actual events in my life or somewhere from the depths of my head. Although I can't give anyone a direct answer to "where" exactly I get my ideas, I can give you some insight on how I obtain them.

-Music and mood

This mainly contributes to my art. If I'm feeling angry or pissed, I usually blast Slipknot's Vermillion ((part 1)) or Mudvayne's Severed and draw something really dark to express my hatred ((i.e. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/alormai/pisces.jpg)) Or if I'm feeling rather at peace with myself, which doesn't mean that I'm actually at peace at all, I'll play Tori Amos' Sleeps With Butterflies and draw something that really fits my gentle mood ((i.e. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/alormai/syrauhmari.jpg)). Usually when I draw little bits like these, I color them in photoshop...when it works >__< And, at times I tend to feel a little gothic and silent, which used to be a problem for me when I wanted to draw something because there was no music that summed up what I was feeling in order to help me express myself, but then I found Full Metal Alchemist's Dante, which has no words but simple music and haunting moans. I can't pull off much when I'm in these rare moods, but there will be that one pic that I manage to pull off and color ((i.e. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/alormai/alormai.jpg)) Music and mood plays a great deal in my art, but it also comes in handy in my writing, especially when I stumble across a song that oddly seems to fit a certain scene or character(s) in my story. Lately I've been listening to taTU while I write Alormai and I've seen a great new depth in my writing, which mainly comes out in chapter eleven.

-Actual Events

I use real life events mainly in my writing. Most people probably wouldn't have known, but most of the characters in my writing, especially Alormai, are based off of actual people I know. All though they may not share most of their personallity trates, each and every character strangley mirrors one or a couple of my friends. For example, Tundra Camill is roughly based off of my friend Angela Delpiero; blonde, carefree, protective, loyal, and quick tempered with a few unexpected surprises. Anouther character who's based off of one of my most interesting and unique friends is Lieutenant Yuri, who mocks Bryan VanHook in almost every way possible. Unfortunantly they both only have one word that can sum up their entire existence; deceiable. Yet aside from people in my life playing a part in my writing, actual events take a very strong role as well. There are several moments and twists in Alormai that closely follow some of the things my friends and myself have gone through over the years, all of which I've played a drastic or minor part in. One of the most compelling to me is the affair between Pisces and Luscious, which follows the same sorrowful lines of Richie and his ex-ex-girlfriend, Sammantha. When I added this in Alormai, I portrayed the affair as I saw it, from the sidelines in Sasha's POV, which sadly was the only way I saw it start and end. And although the relationship doesnt turn up exactly like Pisces' and Luscious' in the end ((luckily)), it follows the same aspects that lead to the ending I was almost sure Richie and Sammantha would have had.

-Distraction

Yes, believe it or not, distraction actually helps me work. Usually I get most distracted here on LJ when I read analine's amazing stories. But in the end I dont feel bad at all for putting my work on pause to read someone elses because I return to my piece with a whole new insiration. This also happens whenever Sahun's home. I hate being around him and his friends so much that I actually get motivated to work. Also little things that involve his rowdy friends, like today when I walked in on one of them in the shower, makes me what to express my embarrassment or humor on the whole event. Some people may not take distraction in the same ways I do, but I try to use everything I do to my advantage in my art or writing, which some one very special to me once said would shoot me to the stars one day.
