On the 26th of January at 9:00am Me and Alex went to the meeting point, so that we could embark on our merry journey to Big Day Out. We met Tom and all his mates at Kirrawee station (i'd list but my head is pounding and i run risk of missing out on some names) Anyway there was a large group of us on the train, needless to say we made it very uncomfortable for all other passengers. About 12 or so of us all screaming and running wild with a permanent marker. We finally reached our destination of Olympic Park and were bombarded with police officers and sniffer dogs and sadly, Tom lost his drink bottle. I must say though, those sniffer dogs do a very poor job as there was pot EVERYWHERE. We checked out LilyWorld whilst waiting for Todd & Steph to buy shirts and then we proceeded towards the Orange & Blue stages, into the depths of the D barriers where we didn't leave for a solid 9 hours, ensuring we all had severe sunburn and sore legs. While all the bands (except for Mudvayne) played EXTREMELY well, the outstanding performances i thought were:
Airbourne - The coolest band i have ever seen.
Faker - I Love
Gerling - even though pretty much everyone i went with hated them, i still love them! >.<
Wolfmother - couldnt have expect anymore!
Hilltop Hoods - Awesome!
Kings of Leon surprised me !
THE LIVING END were amazing!
Iggy & the Stooges put on a really entertaining show, although i'm certain he played I Wanna Be Your Dog 5 times.
and of course COG. They were absolutely perfect and i couldnt have asked for more!
We caught the last half hour of the Mars Volta but i didnt enjoy it because it was all their new artsy stuff and i was restless as i wanted to hear COG!! We also went into the Boiler Room and saw a bit of M.I.A. which was, well, interesting.
We also saw people dressed up as giant birds pecking a guy which was, dead set (i just saw your name nix >.<) the funniest thing i have ever seen in my life.
Anyway, we're all sunburnt, although i swear im the worst. Me and Tom now look like Wife Beaters and i have blisters everywhere and have all the headaches and sickness and feel like absolute shit. And was all this pain worth it? hell fucking yes.
And that concludes my boring, but entertaining to type post
