I WILL COME BACK FOR THIS, BUT CAN I JUST SAY:

I LOVE TAE-KYUNG. LOVE HIM. HE IS NEITHER PHYSICALLY AGGRESSIVE, NOR EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE, AND BASICALLY A NEUROTIC CONTROL-FREAK ON CRACK AND DORK TIMES 1000000000000. Besides Jan Geun Suk's voice deserves Hallyu status all on its own.

I went in expecting to hate everything, especially Tae-kyung, and second lead shipping like hell. BUT, INSTEAD.

(Alex is side-eyeing me. I am side-eyeing myself tbqh.)

I NEED TO GET TO YOUR HEIRS POST AS WELL. Although lmao, I'm beginning to think I'm v. easy to please is what because I basically enjoy everything in Heirs (except for the adult romances bcz dnc.)

LMAO how do you not know that I'm the biggest YB hater on the planet (don't tell Lizzie tho, shhh) the only thing I truly love is Jeremi ok. I watched it the next day (literally) after finishing Reply 1997. CAN YOU IMAGINE MY TRAUMA OK JUST PICTURE IT FOR A SECOND AND I WAS ALL ALONE IN THE HORROR BUT THANK GOD ALEX FOLLOWED SUIT SHORTLY AFTER. It's probably not even as bad as I remember it. But man. Only time in my life I've legit understood the concept of hate watching a show. By the end of it I was seething and in need of a hug... Ugh, my trauma goes on forever and ever, so don't talk to me about it. Let's just pretend it doesn't exist.

YES GET TO MY HEIRS POST I WANT YOUR DETAILED THOUGHTS PLS. Also I enjoy pretty much everything (including the adult drama lulz) SAVE FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING OTP THAT HAS MANAGED TO REPEATEDLY SQUICK ME DURING THE LAST TWO EPS I WANT TO KILL THINGS. EW EW EW.

1) it's 4am in the fucking morning I hate my life and I'm getting up in 3 hours so s l e e p
2) I thought it was just going to be one more thing but then IT BECAME A 5K REPLY VOMIT?

ZOE YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND HOW HAPPY THIS MAKES ME

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A SAD LITTLE GIRL WHO WATCHED YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL AND FELL IN LOVE WITH KDRAMAS AND ANXIOUSLY AWAITED THE DAY HER FLIST WOULD JOIN HER, THREE YEARS LATER THEY DID AND THEY ALL HATED HER FIRST AND MOST BELOVED DRAMA AND THERE WAS MUCH SADNESS.

I've never quite been able to grasp what the beef was with it tbh, Tae-kyung was a glorious character with the Best. Voice. Ever (apart from maybe Han-seong from Coffee Prince because UNF)

He's secretly a massive dork. This is the key.

I'm legit vomming rainbows I'm so happy right now. SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, UNDERSTANDS MY MOST BELOVED DRAMA.

But dude, what a fantastic show? It's legitimately funny and wholly entertaining and an excellent tongue-in-cheek look at idol life. (Like, I DIED when they had the fantasy fanfic sequence with Shin-woo/Tae-kyung/Jeremy. That reference to fic-writing was one of my favorite parts in Reply 1997 and to think that You're Beautiful did it all the way back in 2009 when it wasn't as mainstream as it is now!) Even the general celebrity management, the constant are-the-cameras-watching-me personas, TAE-KYUNG ASKING WHETHER HE WAS ON PUNK'D/ESQUE/SOMETHING BECAUSE THE WHOLE SITUATION WAS TOO BIZARRE TO BE REAL. And all the general meta-references and just guhAs for Tae-kyung, my most basic judging parameter for any character is whether the show gets what they're writing the character as/if my perception is in-line with a show's, as far as I can tell. And through the fantasy sequence (THOSE ARE THE BEST) with Tae-kyung and Mi-nyeo's marriage ceremony, where he was all overbearing and high-handed ("I GIVE YOU ( ... )

The third paragraph especially is something I was loosly thinking about when trying to defend him, back when the others watched it, but couldn't quite find the words to express, I think I was more like - HE'S NOT ABUSIVE YOU GUYS, HE'S JUST REALLY LAME. LIKE MR DARCY OKAY.

Genuine. Best. Ever. I think it was about this point when I 100% fell in love with the show and with KDramas in general if they were all going to be this ridic (they mostly were, bless)

but actually Tae-kyung is the first person/character/species whose voice I have noticed, in my life. Like, I am SO SOLD on his voice, it's not even funny./headinhands/ DO YOU SEE WHY I WAS SO SMITTEN? WHO KNOWS, IF IT HAD BEEN ANYONE BUT JGS' FACE AND VOICE IN MY FIRST DRAMA, I MIGHT NEVER HAVE COME THIS FAR ( ... )
