[Wedding]

Upon arrival to Harwich guests are immediately ushered away from the town and cautioned not to make contact with any of the villagers for various reasons (none of which had to do with the fact that Jacky was a wanted criminal not only in Harwich but in all of England and that this was the 19th century where time travel wasn't even an idea for any ( Read more... )

Jade knocked on the door to the room lightly before stepping inside a few moments after. There was no response of negativity, so might as well. The Colonel was fully prepared for the event, and was actually in a rather good mood because of it. He'd never admit it, but he did feel a type of respect for both Jacky and Kratos, even though the bride did get on his nerves more than a few times. Jade greeted Kratos simply, making attempts to be pleasant today, "Today's the big day, isn't it?"

Kratos had barely even registered Jade entering the room. He had heard the knock but his mind was so much of a blur that he paid it little attention, no matter who it was who had entered. To say that he was nervous was more than an understatement and even Kratos was finding it hard to hide it completely. He had already made a mistake prior to the wedding, one that he thought might have cost him his future wife, but now he had another chance. And after Jacky's previous post... he knew that he couldn't keep letting her down like that. She wanted someone who could be committed and a stable future. Though she knew as well as he did that there would always be times when he would put Anna, and most importantly Lloyd, first, he trusted Jacky to be prepared for that. He hoped that she realised just how important she really was to him despite that ( ... )

Jade couldn't help but laugh, already sensing Kratos's nerves. The fact that he refused to look at even his vistor was a sign that either he really hated Jade that much, or simply was too caught up in the wedding business. If Kratos was this unprepared, Jade wondered idly how well Jacky could be faring in comparison. Hopefully these two would manage the wedding anyway, even though Jade had some concerns in mind about a third party who had yet to make his appearance that day ( ... )

He turned ever so slightly, acknowledging that he was in fact listening. In truth, the only reason he kept his distance was so that he could focus on himself and on what he had to do shortly. He wasn't about to let his emotions out on someone else, particularly not Jade. No, he had to stay focussed.

"I almost expected it to be easier this time..." he said, though he wasn't about to go into detail about just what he meant by that.

Shuraiya entered Kratos' room with little warning or cordiality; he opened the door while rapping on it with his knuckles, wanting to get this over with as quickly as possible-- he spotted Kratos, dressed in his wedding finery, and looking... just as stoic as ever. Wonderful.

"Kratos." He leaned on the door jamb, waiting until he came out of whatever reverie he was currently wrapped up in before continuing, "You fuck this up, and I'll kill you. Got it?"

Kratos turned abruptly to find Shuraiya standing at the door looking none too pleased to see him. His harsh words didn't surprise him really. He hadn't expected any encouragement from him, and the words he did receive did little in the way of comforting him. Even so he had hoped that he would at least spare him from his hateful comments for just one day. Today was not a day for fighting and he hoped that Shuraiya knew as well as he did that doing so would only ruin the day for Jacky. Kratos at least would do his best not to get on Shuraiya's bad side, though no doubt he had done that already just by being here in the first place.

"I do not intend to let her down," he said, watching him carefully.

"Good." He stood there a moment, gathering his thoughts before finally granting Kratos a smile, even if it was remotely forced. "Let's have fun today, 'cause Jacky will have both our hides if we don't at least fake getting along."

It was good to know that they were on the same wavelength for now at least. Focussing on what Jacky would want might help them both to take the focus away from each other and perhaps then they could get along, at least tolerate each other.

Kratos didn't return the smile, even if it was a fake one Shuraiya was offering him. Even so he returned the favour with a small nod. "Very well. I am sure Jacky would appreciate it."

"That's why I'm doing it. For her." He replied in a matter-of-fact tone, resisting the urge to add another scathing comment. For it being his wedding day, Kratos was less than the excited, nervous groom than he ought to have been-- Shuraiya doubted that it was because of him. And, since Kratos never deigned to clue the bounty hunter into why he was so... very him Shuraiya doubted he would tell him today, of all days.

"Well, I gotta go help Arche with some stuff-- try to smile for once, you're getting married, for fuck's sake. At least pretend you're happy about this."

Lloyd looked somewhat out of place in his formal outfit (and much less red than usual) as he stood in the hallway outside Kratos' room. It was only the second time he'd had to wear this, and he still wasn't used to the feel of the stiff, rich fabric. After adjusting the collar yet again, he knocked on the door before pulling it open.

"Hey Dad, I'm coming in."

Hearing his son's voice, Kratos turned to address his new visitor, albeit a little hesitantly. While he was always glad to see Lloyd, he was still concerned about what affect this day and indeed the future might have on him. It was strange enough for Kratos... what must Lloyd be feeling? Of course Jacky would never replace his mother, but he would still have to get used to seeing another by his father's side.

"Lloyd..." he said simply, not really sure what else to say to him right now.

Lloyd wasn't exactly sure what to do either. He'd never been to a wedding before, or known anyone getting married. Still, he knew he should be trying to support Kratos. Above anything else, he wanted his father to be happy.

He smiled to break the ice. "So, are you ready?"

The Doctor stood looking at the door for a while before he knocked smartly and waited for Kratos to answer it.

"Kratos? It's the Doctor. Mind if I come in?"

Another visitor. It didn't seem like he would get any time to himself, but at least they offered a distraction from negative thoughts. Besides, he trusted the Doctor. He could think of worse visitors.

Sighing, Kratos went to the door and opened it, showing him in.

The Doctor walked in and gave him a critical look.

"How are you feeling?"
