where is the best place to acquire cheap furniture? used is okay as long as it doesn't smell funny or have unusual stains.

if you want affordable stuff that'll last, i'd suggest ikea. it's not cheap, but you can get a lot of nice stuff there that's not much more than you'd find at wal-mart.

did you find an apartment?!

Ikea stuff has a tendency to fall apart fast, though. It's entirely made from nice looking but not-well-put-together parts (mostly like particle board and shit...).

i don't know if that's true -- i got an ikea bed & desk when i was little, & i used it up until my brother started using it & it is still in really solid condition.

ikea is way better quality than comparably priced things

I believe with their sudden boom in popularity, things like Ikea and, say for example, LL Bean, have gone way DOWN in quality because their demand rose dramatically. Ikea is priced really well, but I think that price, nowadays, equally reflects the quality that you'll probably be getting.

i've got ikea chairs, a table, and a bed frame. i've abused the hell out of all of it and after two colleges, three states, and four years, it's holding up wonderfully. it's not the best material but it's working.

Jussayin I've always heard completely mixed feelings on them.
