Yay! She did it! Malukah just uploaded her latest song on YouTube today. It is her cover for "Rains of Castamere", a Lannister song sang by Bronn & Co on the eve of Battle of Blackwater from HBO's Game of Thrones.

I've been waiting for her to do this cover ever since I saw this video of her "messing" GoT's main theme song awhile ago:

Malukah has such a lovely voice, which I think sounds perfect when she sings bard styled songs. I was first introduced to her music by my boy who was scouring the internet searching for how to play Skyrim's theme on piano. He showed me her version of
Dragonborn Comes, and
Age of Aggression, her earliest covers of the songs from the video game Skyrim. Later on, she also added
Age of Oppression (it's basically the same song as "Age of Aggression" on the video game except different lyrics -- AoA is sung by the Imperial side while AoO is sung by the Storm Cloaks, but Malukah did a different arrangement for the song here so I actually enjoyed this later version even better) and
Tale of the Tongues, my favorite Skyrim song, a heroic poem styled ballad.
Anyway, when I first heard her sing
Dragonborn Comes, I had wished she would do songs from ASOIAF because of the similarities between the two stories: Dragons! King Slayer! So I literally squee-ed when I saw her humming the tune of GoT! And at the same time, I had wistfully hoped she would also give "Rains of Castamere" a shot. I'm so glad she finally did it. I really enjoyed her version of the song. Like her take on
Tale of the Tongues, her voice here lends this masculine toned ballad a softer melodic quality that I find quite lovely. :D
