san francisco state university is now a smoke-free campus.

this is what the random email i got said:

I am pleased to announce that San Francisco State University has just taken another major step in our ongoing efforts to provide a safe and healthful environment for all members of our community. On August 23, 2004, we will become a smoke-free

i dont know if you got the full letter but it goes on to say:

Consequently, sophomore Devon Bailey will be forced to smoke as much as she possibly can on Sunday, August the 22nd, one day prior to the official smoke free campus "resolution". If you can not contact her when this decision does in fact come into effect, after checking her room, classes, etc. she'll most likely be huddled as close as possible to the "designated areas" provided by the school on the out skirts of the campus, also known as the most dangerous areas of the school. Hopefully Miss Bailey will be okay with the school's decision.

maybe we can get a couple cans of mace and take some hourly outings to the danger zones that are the designated smoking areas.

Being that they made their argument on the fact that the 30 foot rule made it nearly impossible for smokers to find a safe place to smoke, they should have made it mandatory for us all to smoke the cancer stick. In fact, they should make us take 3 days off school a week just to stand around buildings and smoke em up so that no one notices the difference between clean and smoke filled air

oh man, that totally sucks lu...my school's trying to do something like that, too. i'ma die! right now, we have to be 20 feet away from all buildings. but if they ban it all over the place, people are gonna riot!

that's how our school used to be. you had to be 30 feet away from a campus building. this is ridiculous.
