"They're coming to get you, Barbara......"

So, I was just sitting here watching Resident Evil and realized how the movie industry has officially took the "scare" out of zombies. Now I may be a geek, but I have a fascination, well for a better term "obsession" with zombies. I've seen almost every movie, read every book, I've even bought the "Zombie Survival Guide" (Not that I expect the dead to rise from the grave anytime soon, but it's all in good fun to see how if it were to happen how ppl would go about surviving it). Well anyway, I'm thinking to put the scare and fun back into good ole zombie flicks is to take away most of the gore (Oh, don't get me wrong. I love the gore but sometimes it's what you don't see or see little of is what makes it scary. That's why "The Excorsist" still scares me to this day.) take away all the high tech weapons, special ops, and it should be in a first person view. Seriously, how many movies are filmed in a first person view? I'd find it much more proactive if it felt like "I" was in the movie. The only zombie movies that even scared me were the original "Night of the Living Dead" and a movie that not many ppl like "28 Days Later" which is a technical zombie flick. More ppl would relate to a scary movie like this if the characters were more like average joes kinda like "Shaun of the Dead" except without the humor (even though I loved it). God I can go on and on and on with this it's sad....Well, that's all my rant for today.

Best zombie movie: Night of the Living Dead
Funniest Zombie Movie: Dead and Breakfast
Best Zombie book : Resident Evil Zero
Funniest Zombie Book: Zombie Survival Guide
Best Zombie game: Resident Evil 1
Funniest Zombie game: Typing of the Dead

Ok maybe I'm not done. For the most part the most enduring series is the "Resident Evil" series. The video games are classic and for the longest time I couldn't play them because they scared the shit out of me. I could only watch as my sister played them (I would freak out and usually run into walls and perish when I'd play). Really my whole fascination with zombies started when I was at one of my sisters friends house trying to score a bag. He was playing a game I've never seen or heard of before...." Resident Evil" the original. Nothing looked so complex, scary, interesting. It sparked my imagination. From then on led me down a path of zombies and video games for that matter. So "Resident Evil" will always be that main zombie point for me. Before this I've seen other zombie things like "Night of the Living Dead" and "Return of the Living Dead". The Return was just cheesy and lacked everything from the Night. The Night of the Living Dead just lacked something that the resident evil game series did not. The feeling of lonliness. You are left in a mansion, everyone is thought to be dead. That is the scary aspect of it: Survival Horror. Not the movies are ok, but like I've said have been butchered. There is no Alice except in resident evil code veronica and she's not a good guy at all. They left out the main characters Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Rebbecca Chambers, Barry Burton, Albert Wesker, Leon Kennedy....All of the ppl who make the series what it is. Sure they bring in Jill Valentine and Carlos Olviera in the second one but they hardly have much of a role. They left out the whole plot and the main villains like William Burkin and Nicolai Ginovaef wasn't Carlo's sidekick like in the movie, he was actually the villain in Nemesis. Arg.....lol, I'm such a geek.
