But I would like to think campbell's audition is important. The man isn't all-seeing all-knowing about all of his students, that would be nigh to impossible. (Though he is freakishly amazingly smart and calculative and can multitask like a demon.) Not to mention all of the people who auditioned for their first time; there could be alot of undiscovered talent there, and that needs to be considered for there to be an excellent show. He also has to see how peoples voices sound, yada yada... I do understand what you are saying about how auditions are not serious, and you are right when you compare it to something like auditioning for Community Theatre. In relation to that, Campbell has personal knowledge of alot of the applicants of this show and that will factor in to his decision making. So I am sort of disagreeing and agreeing with you here.

I think it's a sad thing because it dilutes the performance...
Theatre isn't this hierarchial totem pole where if you are a senior you are guaranteed roles or that a "chorus" role is necessarily the bottom of the said totem pole. I have digressed this topic to the ends of the earth, someone stop me please.
