this is what people who lead pathetic lives do on their birthdays... ;p

it was my birthday yesterday (14 sept) and i had to work (boohoo). Alex, who is one year older but shares the same birthday as me, smsed me while I was working:

"Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a better one than me!"

i think people born on the same day have similar fates, because i found out that he also had to work on a Sunday. we then decided to meet for coffee / tea at VivoCity at 9+pm, after my bday dinner with shuhui, karen and huizhu.

so after dinner i went over to BK to meet Alex. he was having his dinner cos he'd just finished work. we were quite bored since there was really nothing much to do and suddenly i had a silly idea after seeing his black frame specs. i took out mine too and put it on... then asked him "eh, later we go buy a board and write 'it's our birthday today!' and walk around VivoCity lah... ons boh? then we see how many people wish us 'Happy Birthday' lah?"

he gave the "what?!" look, laughed and said "but then the shops are already closed, we won't be able to get boards." me being the kind who won't let go of a "brilliant" idea, suggested that we go get a paper bag, tear it into half so that each of us can hang the strings around our necks, such that it has the same effect as the "board" idea.

i rushed him to quickly gobble up his food and soon we were on our feet again walking around trying to find a shop that we can ask for paper bags. but most shops were closed and some probably don't have paper bags with long strings... so he suggested that we get a giant birthday card at precious thots instead and walk around to get people to sign on it! when we reached precious thots, it was already closed, so we went to action city instead. they didn't have giant birthday cards but had those normal sized ones. we couldn't stop laughing while choosing the cards and we got a birthday card each. after payment, we opened up the cards and decided to make the cashier our first "victim". ;p he was very nice and gave us each a koala bear thingie that you'd use to hit your aching shoulder. we then approached the other 2 staffs who were closing the store, and they were also very nice and signed on our cards!

that was like super encouraging for our big plan! after we stepped out of the shop, there was this group of about 4 people taking photos outside the store. we decided to approach them and get their well-wishes too..! they were rather amused by us and signed on our cards too! they even took photos with the 2 of us! haha!

after that we continued to walk around, meeting and interacting with many different people. we had wishes in english, chinese, japanese... we had gotten signatures from a german, a hebrew, a korean, 2 japanese, a few caucasians, a few malays and a few indians. one lovely indian lady even hugged us both and wished us happy birthday! :D surprisingly, no one rejected our requests! wahahaha...!

our end products after the whole session... PRICELESS!

2 tired siaolangs grinning happily after the successful birthday wishes solicitation session...

to those at VivoCity on 14 Sept (at around 10.15pm - 11pm), whom we had approached and have kindly agreed to sign on our cards wishing us "happy birthday"... thanks alot!!! you made our day, yeah! :D

and this is a quote from Alex: "My faith in humanity has been restored." because they were all so nice to us! :D :D :D

hmm next year should do what leh? ;p
