Aaaaah.

I did my first inter-branch transfer today. Basically, Guardian Pharmacy actually has this service where we can offer to get a particular medication from another Guardian branch for you if it's out of stock in a certain branch. What it really means is that someone (i.e. the pharmacist, a pre-reg pharmacist or a clueless Year 2 student) has to run to another branch and get the medication for you. In this case, it meant that I went all the way to Mount Elizabeth Hospital to get blood pressure medication for this customer who has to fly off tomorrow.

I'm actually really, really, really enjoying my preceptorship. I don't know. Maybe I just hate myself (remember, I'm a pharmacy student and a violist), but there's something deeply satisfying about entertaining all sorts of requests and telling people how to take their medications properly. And I suppose it's different in a retail setting, because you can actually chat with your customers and tell them all sorts of stuff. Today, a customer actually thanked us for telling her the difference between taking charcoal and Imodium for diarrhoea (and why it's a terrible idea to take Imodium when you have diarrhoea with fever). So yea. That was nice.
