This is fantastic.

I'm currently listening to Peter Sculthorpe's Piano Concerto over YouTube, which we are going to perform in March next year. It is absolutely stunning. Oh, I've forgotten how much I love modern music. When it isn't too bloody weird, of course. I've also picked up Alex Ross' The Rest is Noise, which is a book about, well, twentieth-century music. I've been meaning to read this book for years. Well, 2 years anyway.

Birthday has been lovely. Received many lovely birthday messages. Had lovely birthday cake. I love it when they put too much booze in cake. And I managed to practice Sketches of Singapore while waiting for exco meeting just now, so now I can finally play that running passage with a lot of semiquavers. Yay.

I also got my Level 3000 module. For 1 point. Well, at least it solves the problem of my 4-hour lunch breaks.

On Sherlock. Last week's episode was good, but not great. It's probably a lot worse for me because I'm Chinese, and you've got all these campy, horrid Chinese stereotypes which would work in a Victorian novel, but just seems bizarre in a 21st century setting. Also, the quality is nowhere near the debut, which is to be expected since Steven Moffat is capable of writing episodes that are close to perfection. Anyway. Martin Freeman still adorkable. Benedict Cumberbatch still very pretty; there's something about a lanky bloke in a well-cut suit that just screams oh, yes, please. Looking forward to this week's episode because it's written by Mark Gatiss, who has a tendency to serve up fanservice by the bucketloads, never mind the occasional dubious quality of writing.
