Boring Life Thins part N+1

Lately, one of the lovely things thats been happening is some health issues. I've been going to acupuncture for migraines and it seems to work to reduce frequency, though not to stop them in their tracks, once they're going.

I did end up with new insurance and thus a new doctor (not impressed so far -- first thing they did was whip out the little BMI scroll wheel and declare me obese). I'm pretty much dismissing the obesity problem for now, as far as I can tell the BMI index is one of the least accurate ways to determine healthy weight I can imagine, but one thing that was undeniable is ... high blood pressure. In face, a shocked look might have crossed her face when she saw it and she asked if it was like that all the time.

Thankfully, I could say no -- I'd been having a migraine for the past three days and there's nothing like relentless pain to jack up your blood pressure. When I re-took it days later, it was significantly lower, if still high.

So, lowering my blood pressure is the goal. My acupuncturist gave me some chinese meds that should help -- they also have the side effect of slowing down fat absorption so they may help on the weight side too.

High blood pressure. D: I hate getting old.

Which means I'm trying to eat better (laugh now!), as in something besides either meat or bread. Tonight is fish with fresh green beans from the garden, tomatoes and a nice garlic/basil in olive oil condiment we bought at the State Fair (where I ate deep fried bread, probably to my heart's dismay). I also now have a new toaster oven, so I don't have to heat up the whole house when I bake it in parchment.

Still, If I can pull this off, it will probably help a whole range of issues I have. Go me.
