I don't want to make more predictions because I've been wrong so far (about Vera). I thought Vera would be around to resuscitate Rex when the miracle was resolved ( ... )

Jack is always a plausibly recycled character. Even if he does die and everyone thinks it's permanent, he can always pop up again (clawing his way out of the ashes!) like an X-rated jack-in-the-box. Which, I'd buy ;)

Spoilers for ep7 suggest that Gwen's hard choice is not limited to her dad.

I thought that Rex was healing, so that by the time this show ends, he'll be well enough to survive? I mean, sure some guy stuck a pen in him but holding your breath on logic in MD would put you Category 1.

Eeek on the spoilers! I mean, letting your dad who's had multiple heart attacks die is very tough and sad, but having had a parent with a DNR who died, it's kind of expected, and Geraint is clearly suffering. It was probably his time when the miracle hit.

Yeah, I think Rex could probably survive, but it's always iffy, and he's not afraid to take risks with his life, so he could get worse. Now I want a character study about Rex and how he views his mortality after almost dying, contrasted/compared with Jack.

An x-rated Jack in the box! OY.

I'm pretty sure (as in who knows with this show) that they wouldn't have brought up the fact that Rex was healing if he wasn't going to survive. It hasn't been mentioned with anyone else, has it?

Yeah, I think the idea of Category Two people is that they heal, and Category One = "too far gone to survive".

In the hospital, they triaged people that way before they triaged them in the camps -- they had time to work on bad cases but they were handling things which could be fixed first to free up beds and resources. Rex would have been a category One from the start if he hadn't made it to a hospital, I guess.

It's kind of unclear. If Gwen's dad, say, keeps having heart attacks, it's clear he'd need a transplant or artificial heart or to be on a heart-lung machine, but people are on these and get transplants and recover, versus people who've had their heads chopped off in industrial accidents. Rex was sewn up (though further damage like the pen torture would probably mean he needs more surgery even though he can keep walking around now.)
