New Kink_bingo starting up soon
Kink_bingo starts up again on June 1st.
I love kink_bingo, even though I never do terribly well. Something about the cards and the little center picture - I don't even know what it is but it's like candy.
This year, they've expanded to allow original fic and they're making small changes to descriptions and rules to encourage asexual, disabled, chromatic and under represented characters in the game. They've also allowed double-use stories: kink_bingo that also matches a meme prompt or whatever.
Maybe I like kink_bingo because of the thoughtful, and mostly successful effort to be extremely sex and kink positive without being … hm, not sure how to say this … too social policing about it. They allow everything from bestiality to underage to rape to scat and have also created an environment where there are neither people going 'ew' or people going 'you are a !fail because you like x, y, or z' thing that is unacceptable in fandom culture. I like that because, over the years, I've watched fandom's list of what's 'acceptable' shift over time (icky girl parts!, fetishizing gay men w/o the courage to admit it, ageplay=childporn!, etc) and I find what I perceive as hypocrisy in the shifting sands of fandom culture to be very irritating. Through some miracle of very hard work on the part of the mods, they avoid both the trap of being either too fandom judgey or too disrespectful of fandom norms. Not an easy task.
The language they use on the rules and mod communications is clear without being too dictatorial and I've never seen them lose their temper publicly. They even handled Ogi Ogas and his group with relative aplomb. I don't hang around on their personal journals so that may be completely different but I consider that appropriate.
Really, it's a great thing, setting aside the fact it's about sex and kink and fandom. Over time, I've come to feel that changing laws (or attempting to change laws) beyond a certain point will not get us to a better culture - so much of what is unnecessarily brutal about our culture are things that cannot or should not be legislated against. The changes will come through changes in people and that only happens when people see that such changes are possible.
All that is very nice, of course, but the important question is … what will I (try) to write?
Knowing my history with deadlines, most likely it'll be a short selection of whatever I manage to write. Still, it's almost as fun to plan as it is to actually do.

- Dom!Tosh AU where she's starting a BDSM hotel/B&B?
- Girl!Kirk TOS Mirrorverse AU where Spock takes control of the Enterprise and its Captain? That one has some consent issues I'm not sure I'm up for tackling.
- BDSM Universe Original Fic (believe it or not, I spent much more time on the imaginary background of the BDSM!AU fic than I did on the fic itself). Moving it to original fic might make it interesting … or undoable.
- Jack/Tosh/Ianto BDSM AU?
- More on the set that includes Russian Roulette and Falling? IE: Jack is fucked up, Ianto makes it worse BDSM?
