But I have a really strong feeling that something bad is going to happen soon. There's this sense of subtle dread permeating my conscious mind, as well as my unconscious mind. I've had nightmares nearly every night for the past two weeks.
I find myself feeling especially anxious about things right now too, and I'm not sure why.

The news and such most definitely isn't helping, is it?
Are your dreams about specifics? Are they different, or is it a repeating scenario? You don't have to talk about those things in any more detail, but if you want to/think it might help to put it to words, know I'll listen!
I think a lot of it's inspired by the news. One night recently I dreamt my nephew had been kidnapped. Needless to say I woke up horrified. Then I dreamt that an old friend of mine was being stalked by a man with a knife. Then I dreamt that somehow I got sent back to grade school to save the lives of three classmates who'd died (in my dream only--they're very much alive in real life as far as I know) and I couldn't save a man from drowning. *shakes head* Thanks for listening :)
All of the above would definitely leave anyone with a sense of unease...I hope that the trend of bad dreams has already hit its end with the last round. (If it helps at all, what stands out about all is a sense of something that makes you feel helpless because it is something happening in front of you that is still fairly beyond your control...maybe that's something that your subconscious is wrestling with, combined with the news (which I refuse to watch anymore of tonight)? Sometimes I feel like if I completely 'out' what might be behind my dreams, they are quicker to 'let up.'
Yeah, you've got a point. Plus I'm anxious about starting the new job Tuesday, so I'm sure that's somewhere mixed in there. I really should stop watching/reading the news, especially before bedtime. *hugs*
The news does the same thing to me. It's scary to think about. Especially now with everything going on. It's better if we don't watch. It doesn't do any good - it just bothers me and upsets me.
And I'm sure the anxiety about your new job doesn't help either.
Maybe before you go to bed try playing with Faith and Bosco for a little. They might help relax you.
Well, last night I dreamt about walking around the shops with my mum, and my sort-of ex-girlfriend who smished my heart into bits was there, so I'd say that that's fairly significant in terms of portents for bad things in the future.
