Buffy the Vampire Slayer Episode Commentary: "Wrecked"

As much as I like Buffy, she's getting on my nerves.

Spike may not have a soul, but I truly believe he loves her. First of all, I've been watching a few episodes from last season--and he totally protected Dawn and Buffy and Joyce time and again without having to. He cried when Buffy died, he felt her death was his fault (which brings up the subject of yes, you can apparently feel guilt without a soul), he continued protecting Dawn...something that I found really strange was in "Bargaining" when he and Dawn are on the motorcycle, he made her put on a helmet...why would he do that if he didn't care? And then he cried again when Buffy came back to life. And let's not forget the speech to Buffy in "Afterlife": "every night I save you."

I really didn't like the Buffy/Willow comparison in this episode. Willow is totally out of control and actually putting herself and other people--including Buffy's sister in danger, serious danger. Buffy being with Spike...how is that endangering anyone? He can't hurt anyone except for her, and I really don't think he's going to try to kill her.

You know, the line in Buffy's first song from the musical, "I was always brave and kind of righteous?" Kind of? Uh, understating facts much?

Major kudos to A.H. and M.T. in this episode though, because they were both awesome. And how about Dawn kicking that demon guy? I was like, "Whoa, definitely the Slayer's kid sister." And her slapping Willow? I know a lot of people find Dawn annoying, but I like her. And I'm feeling bad for her because she's starting to feel like she's non-existent.

I thought it was sweet how Spike was the one who immediately went to Dawn's side to see if she was okay. I wish they'd do more with the Dawn/Spike friendship. They've had some great scenes together.

Anyway, that's my two cents.
