Homemade

Amy removed the chicken from the freezer, very aware of the blonde peering around the corner. Placing the frozen chicken in the sink, the red head turned to her companion.

“You’re supposed to be in bed.” Her brose rose slightly as the Canadian stepped fully into the kitchen coughing. She couldn’t feel more sorry for her boyfriend. The TNA wrestler’s nose as bright red, raw from his continuous blowing. His eyes were heavy as he dragged himself into the room, being as careful as he could so he wouldn’t trip over the blanket wrapped around his shoulders.

He sniffled, “I was, that was until you started taking to long with my soup.” Jason Reso sat down on the stool in front of the island, eyeing the woman’s every movement.

“I was just about to make it.” She stated turning back to the frozen chicken she left in the sink.

“That’s not chicken noodle soup.” He mumbled, wiping his nose on the blanket looking around for any sign of a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup.

Amy smiled, taking the chicken from its wrappings. “It’s even better.”

“How can anything be better?”

She rinsed the chicken “it’s homemade.”

Jay sat in silence as he watched her prepare everything; she already had a pot filled with water on the stove, chopped potatoes, carrots, celery and spices on the counter as well as a box of noodles. She seasoned the chicken with adobo, before dumping it into the pot. The vegetables and spices followed not long after.

“What’s that?” He asked, his hand poking out from the blanket to point at the small packet in her hand.

“Chicken broth.”

Jay’s nose scrunched up. “That doesn’t look like chicken broth...isn’t it suppose to be liquidly?”

Amy laughed, “Jay-Jay why don’t you go lie down on the couch and I’ll bring it to you when it’s finished.”

“No.” He sniffled, wiping his nose on the blanket again. “I want to watch you.”

The redhead poured the contents of the chicken broth into the water. “It’s going to take a few minutes. I have to wait for the chicken to cook and then I’ll add the noodles.” She walked over to him, gently smacking his hand when he went to wipe his nose, bring a box of tissues from the pantry out in front of him. “Stop doing that, it’s gross.”

Jay tried to playfully mock her, blowing his nose into the tissue. “I hate being sick.”

Amy smiled, patting his cheek. “I know. My poor baby.”

“Why’s it so cold in here?” He grumbled, pulling his blanket a bit tighter around him.

“Because you’re sick, babe.” Jay sat still while the back of Amy’s hand touched his forehead, a frown appearing on the woman’s lips. “You still have a little fever.”

Jay pushed her hand to the side; “I’ll be fine. You should worry about my soup.”

Hazel eyes rolled at his comment, but she went back to the pot on the stove, stirring the contents. She opened the box of elbow noodles and poured them into the pot, stirring them in evenly.

“Mmm, tastes good.” She stated after taking a sip of the broth. She took another spoonful of the broth, her hand underneath the spoon while she held it in front of Jay’s face.

The TNA wrestler eyed it wearily; sniffing the air before he finally took a slow sip when the woman urged the spoon forward. He licked his lips, letting the warm liquid go down his throat. “Not bad.”

She smiled and winked at him, stirring the contents in the pot. “Only a few more minutes.”

“You still could have just made me Campbell’s, would have been quicker.” Jay sniffled, coughing into his hand.

McKenzie padded into the kitchen, the white haired mutt walking to his food dish before his took notice of Jay’s moving blanket. The mutt growled softly before pouncing on the edge of the blanket to begin a game of tag o’ war.

Jay eyed the small dog and tugged on his end of the blanket, the mutt growling louder with each tug. “Ames, tell Kenzie to let go and leave a poor sick man alone.” He complained, swatting at the little dog with his other blanket covered hand.

McKenzie nipped at the other end of the blanket that hit his face, the dog enjoying the little game. Amy smiled at the sight, intervening when Jay’s expression soon grew annoyed. She grabbed the small dog and opened the back door letting McKenzie run out back in the fenced in area.

The Canadian coughed, eyeing the pot of soup. “Is it done yet?”

Amy checked the soup, smiling contently after a sip of the soup. “Yep.”

“Thank god.” Jay mumbled, shifting on the stool.

The redhead laughed softly, shaking her head. Grabbing a bowl, the woman poured a good amount of soup and two pieces of chicken. The bowl was placed in front of the sniffling blonde; a spoon handed to him shortly after.

Amy leaned forward on the Kitchen Island to watch her sick boyfriend. “Go ahead eat it. You were the one who wanted chicken soup. And what’s even better about this one is I made with love.”

“That sounded so corny.” Jay mumbled, smiling a bit as Amy’s eyebrow rose. He took a healthy spoonful of broth, vegetables, and noodles, and ate it, chewing everything before swallowing. The blonde licked his lips in contentment.

“So?”

Rather then an answer Jay took another spoonful of the soup. “Yum”

Amy smiled ear to ear, moving to his side of the island to place a kiss to his cheek. “Glad you like it. Didn’t I tell you homemade was better?”

He nodded slowly “Homemade is definitely better.”
