WWE announcer Jim Ross says Jeff Hardy's Twitter page being taken down was a "smart move" to prevent any further chatter from Jeff that could affect his legal position. Ross says he doesn't think "for one moment" that Jeff is a drug dealer and hopes the legal situation will be resolved.
"The less Jeff says about his legal entanglements the better. I do not believe for a moment that Jeff Hardy is a 'drug trafficker' or 'dealer,'" Ross said on jrsbarbq.com today. "I don't know why Jeff allegedly was in possession of the drugs in question, there are lots of avenues of speculation, but hopefully there is be a viable explanation."
Ross said he hopes the matter will be resolved "quickly and efficiently" for Jeff to put the "embarrassing ordeal behind him." Ross added that Jeff needs to focus on his "physical and mental well being."
Jeff's brother, Matt Hardy, was at the Smackdown TV taping in Canada on Tuesday night, but he was not used on TV. Matt was in the previous two Smackdown TV main events. Ross said he didn't have a chance to talk to Matt about Jeff's legal issues.
"I saw Matt Hardy in Hamilton but never spoke to him about his brother's situation as I figured that Matt had already been quizzed by enough people on that matter," Ross said. "We spoke but not about the recent controversy as both Matt and Jeff know that I am supportive of them and have been for years since I signed them to their first WWE contract."
